Found out how to make crossings work
Thanks for those tips.
I just found out why my road did not work. I was using the scripted road under tracks. I loaded another scenario and found out that normal road (with cars) are listed under objects in the splines, they are not under tracks. Click on the house and when the tab opens out click on the large spline circle next to the large house circle.
Here is a good tip. Load up a working scenario and use the get tool from different sections to find out what is placed where. If you don't have the right tab open then the get tool won't be able to find the thing you are touching, so change tabs.
Edit
I found out how to add a crossing that works.
First you need to realise that the crossing is both road and railway track. So you can't have your rail or road go over the crossing. The rail and road needs to join up to the crossing. Also you need to pick the right crossing piece. Most have four yellow marker circles for where you link up the rail and road, but I found some have 2 yellow marker up arrows when placed as well. The one without the up arrows did not work (it also derailed my train) but the one with the up arrows did. Crossings are automatic, once they are connect to a road spline and railway spline they sense when the train is coming and lower the gates. The cars will move from the road spline across the crossing automatically if the gates are up. When the train has moved far enough away the boom gates will raise.
If this was a picture of the railway crossing
Where the " is the road and = is the railway
You need to cut the road and railway and place the crossing in the centre
Then join the railway and road to the crossing, moving the end marker circles to the four circles on the crossing.
