Hi all, after reading about TS12 in cg gamer a while back i finally decided to get it. I've ran through all the tutorials and most of the sessions, is this all there is? I know there's the DLC but for the price I expect to have more than 4 tutorials and a handfullf of sessions that are not even made by the developer. I don't want or have any interest in designing maps i would like to be able to do something like what you do in the tutorials (pick up and drop off cargo etc...) instead all there is to do is start train, obey speed limt, stop train, end of ssession. I'm trying to keep an open mind but like I said for the price there's just not much to do as far as i can see. What am I missing?

No, it's not all there is. For one thing, there are sessions and routes on the DLC, and most of the route designers have third party sites where thy offer additional sessions, and other third party sites, which used to have routes and sessions built in, still have routes and sessions. A better approach might be to advise the community which of the routes and sessions built in you enjoyed the most, and to enquire where you can find others like them.

ok so what are some good sessions to download that include some good open ended pickup and delievery, something based on Mojave maybe but wehere you for instance deliever concrete then switch cosits and pick up coal that you deliever. Sorry if this is a silly question I'm completely new to Trainz and am finding it dificult to sort through all the DLC.

I think you guys are referring to the "DLS" (Download Station). When using the same, you may have some trouble in speed downloading if you do not have a First Class Ticket purchased and activated. I'm sure you don't want to hear that news, given it is an extra cost, but I thought it prudent to warn you. I'm not aware of all the sessions on the DLS, but watch out for the Multiplayer sessions, I don't know if you want them or not.

The real point of Trainz is to build and make your own routes and sessions, although many do not share that opinion. You may not be satisfied with that concept, but if you stay with it for awhile, I'm sure you'll find your niche'. Good luck to you.

If you to work with interactive industries, try any of the newly updated routes by msgsapper. They will keep you busy for hours if not days. philskene also has some good ones.

Thanks for the advice, I'm dowloading one of the maps by msgsapper. I have another question though, I'm downloading it with the content manager, once it's done what do I need to do to get it in the game?

That's the beautiful thing about the content manager. It dose what it name says. It manages your content. It downloads it and sticks every thing in the right places. After it is done, all you have to do is exit CM, and launch TRS. Once in TRS youll see that the content is all there and ready to go. CMP makes life easy.

Open ended sessions

Hi Greg --

" ... what are some good sessions to download that include some good open ended pickup and delievery ... ."

Well, if it's open ended sessions with a task to be done, maybe I can help.

See here:

Or just search for sessions with "philskene" as the author.

If you need any extra help, just post here.

By the way, the routes are all short lines and, although the locomotives may be old and shabby, the crews and operations staff are all highly motivated, competent, intelligent and willing to use their own initiative.

Those who we choose to work on the short lines are dedicated roadroad men who don't need a pat on the back when their shift is completed. We expect them to have the internal satisfaction of knowing that they have done their job well.

And we recommend that quiche-eating Prius-driving latte-sipping new-age metrosexulas who do need a "well done" ship out to the Razorback Railroad. We only employ meat-eating pickup-driving beer-swilling real men in our outfits.

Well, nearly.

Sometimes, a route has dependencies that are not on the DLS (Download Station). This is where things get tricky. You may need to right-click the asset in question (which will probably be on the Missing Dependencies tab with a yellow ? next to it), then click View Dependencies.

Any dependencies that are not on the Download Station will appear as a KUID number. Copy and paste that into a post (right-click>copy should work, or use Ctrl and C on the keyboard)

Sometimes, especially if you are downloading an old route, you may find it appearing with a red ?. This means that one or more of it's dependencies are faulty (has errors) and that dependency (or dependencies) cannot be used unless fixed.

I have another question, and thank you all for the replies so far. My question is in content manager, when i'm dowloading a large item the dowload bar will fill completely just like a smaller item then it stalls and the checkbox never gets the green checkmark. I've tried several downloads and this happens with most larger ones say over 8mb. I inverted the list so it starts with the smaller individula dowloads and it completes them fine.
