new with trainz and need help!!

hi all, i just got trainz 2006 after seeing some screenshots and videos. i have been using microsoft train simulator for the longest time and wanted to move on to something better!:) ;) i downloaded the MOPAC Eagles route and some locos and rolling stock, and put transferred them into my trainz folder. but when i went to run some of my new engines , i could not find them in the rail yard option, and the route i downloaded wasnt listed on the driver screen:confused: :confused: :confused: :o i know i did something wrong:( could some one please tell me what folder you download the assets and routes ,,, sessions etc to?? i could really use some help here:'(
 
You don't 'put' assets into a trainz folder. To install them either by:
If they're in a .cdp file you use import CDPs.
If they're a group of files in a plain folder use import content.
Afterwards you use CMP and click the open for edit tab. If anything there, select them and commit them.

welcome to the world of trainz.

ok regarding the rolling stock issue. if you have missed a dependency the items will not show up in railyard. you need to go back to the item and find out whether there is a missing item and then download it.

regarding the route have a look in surveyor you should find you route there if you have installed it right. add a train even its from the built in game items save the map with the train included then go to driver and see what happens.

thanx i'll try that when i get home, im sure im gonna have to reinstall the progam cause i never installed service pack1:o i'll get the hang of this, this cant be as hard as msts where you need addon after addon to get a route to run and it still shows errors.

help for CMP

When I click the CM button on the launcher I get an error message about URL I don't know what I'm doing I can't open cmp. Also what is a KUID? how do I get one and how does it work? I'd like to download some new things . Is Paint shop part of cmp?
 
KUID is assigned, unique for each version of Trainz. It will be used when you register the program with Auran.

When you sell Trainz (I dont think you will) you give up the right to use the KUID.

When you have the KUID you can download some items from the DLS (Download Station)

Thanks for the help by the way i am not angry< i just forgot to shut off the cap lock .I REGISTERED MY NUMBERS WITH THE PLANET. WHERE DO I FIND THE KUID? IWAS TOLD I HAD A FIRST CLASS TICKET FOR 91 DAYS. WHEN I WENT TO DOWN LOAD I GOT THE MICRO SOFT "SEND MESSAGE" WINDOW IT SAID THE CMP WASN'T WORKING . How do I get the CMP to work?

Run the TrainDiag.exe program in the bin folder and make sure all the OpenGL sections pass. If they don't, you'll probably need to update your graphics card's drivers.

Your First Class Ticket needs to be activated in your profile. Click 'Profile' at the top of this page to access it. Once activated it can take a few hours to become fully active.

About KUIDs, the first number, in my case 54833, is unique to the Trainzer. You get it when you register your first copy of Trainz, I think.
The second number, after the : identifies an item created by said Trainzer. A diferent number is generated for each item or layout. I don't believe that the KUID is unique to each version of Trainz but I believe TRS2006 has added a third number preceeding the other two.
 
You can find your KUID number in your Planet Auran Profile.

Click on Profile and log in. Once logged in your KUID number is under the Your User ID tab. For your FCT you can find that under the Tickets tab in your profile. Just note it can take up to 24hrs for your FCT to activate and it is recommended that during this time that you don't download anything from the DLS.

Where do I find "trainDiag.exe?"I went to the web site and couldn't find my KUID. I tried to click on the fct and nothing happened.
Iwhat happens if I delete the whole trs2006 and start over?If that doesn't work I think I'll junk the whole thing because it seems way over my head

Before giving up, and I sugest you don't, perhaps start a new thread in the TRS2006 section, if you have TRS2006.
 
i think i know wat i am doing now. i was just moving my cdp files into the trainz folder thinking they would open up like some of the files do in msts:o i'll try reloading the route and locos and stock this week end when i have time off from work , im sure things will sort them selves out. thanx:)
