New User - know what I want, but cannot be arsed with bumpf.

Just be patient and you'll get there. Trainz isn't some kind of video game that you just pop in the box and start playing like an expert right away. The real joy of the game is as much in the journey as it is in the destination, much like a train ride. We're all here to help you along the journey, so just sit back, grab your favorite beverage and enjoy the ride. It's a little bumpy at times, but well worth the trip.

I'll only consider it, if I enjoy the game first.

Hi
Only one bit of advice, if you haven't got the patients, then any version of Trainz isn't for you. Although its a very rewarding simulation, one of its key assets is patients. Without it I'm afraid you will end up putting it in the bin.
Sometimes, you need a lot of patients, just waiting for this Forum to load.
Cheers
Pete.

The thing is, I wanna spend time playing/enjoying the game/simulation, not spend more time setting things up and configuring, downloading, paying for extra bits that are really necessary etc - I do enough of that with FSX - which I know to be worth it.

Hi! Monsoon
have you tryed my sugestion yet, it,s old (2004) but briliant, and gives the rest a good run for there money, plus a fantastic lerning aid, if anything go's wrong just delete it and then load it up again. and it just go's to show what you can do with so little content.......don't knock it till you'v tryed it!

Yeah....I think you'll find a big load of disappointment lies ahead with Trainz. Downloading and then fixing content is 3/4 of the game!

I think ANY simulation type game (Flight Sim, Trainz, MSTS, Sim City, etc) is going to be that way. Its just something you'll have to put up with if you want to play those types of games.

Yeah...but other games usually have better payoffs for your work....:hehe:

Can't recall having to fix downloaded stuff for Rail Simulator. On the other hand each version of Trainz later than 2004 needs a lot of arsing around with bumpf and BS and bollox. More for each subsequent edition. Roll on MSTS2!

OK - I've downloaded the 7 files - and 'committed' them as far as I can tell.

How do I select this rout enow then - it doesn't appear under 'driver'

To use the routes you go to surveyor and set up trains and rules there and save them to a session. Then you can drive.

I ain't gonna take no more guff about how we yanks murder the King's english.

It's H.M. the Queen's English, please George, and don't worry about Willblunden, he obviously didn't take his happy pill today.......:hehe:
