New User - know what I want, but cannot be arsed with bumpf.

Hi,
I am the lucky recipient of Trainz2006 for Xmas.
I want the UK ECML route download for my game, that I know exists.
I'm registered with an account here (obviously) for my game - and I've registered the game ID key.

I simply cannot be arsed with the bumpf and help file, but want the route.

I see there is a tool to download content, but all it sees is 'current' content that comes on the DVD.

Can anyone help me get this route, without making it an admin nightmare, or making me jump through numerous other pointless hoops?

If not I'll just uninstall the game, and throw it in the bin.

Since you got TRS2006, it comes with Content Manager Plus.
  • Go to the download station. You can see the link above.
  • Check the boxes for TRS2006, TRS2004, UTC, and Trainz.
  • Type in ECML into the search box and press enter.
  • Seven ECML routes come up, which you can download at your pleasure. :) Simply click the Download (Helper) link, and CMP should open up and put the route, and it's dependencies, into the download queue (assuming you've put in your username and password),
Cheers.

Im in 'Download Station' - where do I tick the boxes you mention?

Thanks for keeping it nice and brief for me, lol, I'm not the most patient with these things!

OK - I selected the 7 files and clicked 'start' and it appears to have started downloading seven files.

Maybe I just fire up the game and will see the route to be able to select it?

you'll need to lern to be patient fast, or you will be as bold as a badger within a month, also a broken window and empty space where your computer use't to be.:hehe:

Lol!

I used up my patience with the add-ons for FSX mate - though I knew that would be worth it.

If in doubt with this - I'll just uninstall it and bin it - I'm not going to spend the effort.

:o

Don't worry you'l love It when you get in to it, just don't rush head-long in to it there's ton's of stuff you can do with it, you'v not even skimed the surface yet, O by the way don't forget to commit the files after you down load them.
unless you have ticked the box in options to auto commit.

Welcome to trainz
hope you enjoy it.

You have to wait for the routes and their dependencies to finish downloading. If you're not using a first class ticket, this could take a while. Don't worry, you just have to be a bit patient. :hehe:

Thanks for your help fella's - much appreciated.
I guess its taking time due to the amount of dependencies?
I have an indication at the top of 'download speed', which means data must be being transferred. Not obvious indication on the list of items to the left, though.

'Commit' and 'auto-commit'?

yeh! theres nothing to it realy, just launch trainz from the CMP (the blue button along the top with the train on it) then press commit out of the three options it gives you, otherwise the routs won't display on driver, or servayor.

OK - cheers. Might take DAYS this!

Just to be on the safe side buy and activate a first class ticket. Generally speaking a route has many dependencies, things like buildings etc. and if the total is more than 100 mbs CMP will not download anything.

If you know exactly what you are doing you can nibble it down but for a novice I'd recommend a first class ticket, they aren't that expensive for what you get.

Cheerio John

I would certainly go for the First Class Ticket. I was at first doubtful about the simulator. But you try getting me of my PC when Trainz is fired up and it's World War Three is this house.:hehe: :hehe:
