Just bought Trainz simulator 2010 engineers edition, still trying to sort out how to set it up,one thing I noticed is that the different choice selection links load extremely slow, before showing the content on the computer screen?is this normal or is there a way to 'speed'up the process""
Thanks for any help!

If it is running slow, delete the lesser used stuff on your computer. It will go a little faster. And save your work every 15 minutes if your computer blacks out. That will delete your work. and the bigger the route is the longer it will take to load.

This makes no sense. I never use any of the MS games that came with my Windows installation - so how will deleting them speed up anything?

Welcome!

First you need to register your Trainz. Use the Serial Number button at the top of this page. You'll get a lot more assistance, especially in terms of access to other forums on this site with tips and advice and perhaps more specifics apropos to your situation.

I tried it. all the extra stuff does is slow down your computer.

Made sense when my uncle explained it to me.

Bloatware is the dreaded enemy of PC users everywhere, especially if it functions in the background. It's best to remove it if possible.

Agreed about bloatware but how do you tell what is bloatware and what isn't? If something unnecessary is running as a background task in your computer (and how do you tell what is "unnecessary"?) then you can terminate it (not delete it) but to simply tell people to "delete stuff from your computer" in the hope that it will speed things up is not only unwise, but is also dangerous! There was an email hoax going around a few years ago that told people to delete a system file because it was a virus - it wasn't and those who followed the delete instruction crippled their computers.

A better option is to get a system optimiser/pc maintenance tool to scan your system and to safely disable unnecessary processes, delete unwanted/duplicated/empty files and folders, remove temporary files, clean-up your internet cache and defrag your HDD.

Well, no one should remove anything from any machine unless they are knowledgeable. I didn't think that had to be said, but I guess these days it's better to be safe than assume!

Welcome to the Trainz forums.

Firstly, Trainz usually runs best with the latest graphics card drivers, and the latest DirectX files if using DirectX. (See my sticky thread in this forum for DirectX update advice)

Also, it may be worth posting your system specifications (memory, processor, operating system, graphics card, hard drive size) to get more specific help.

The old saying is true when it comes to computers - "ASSUME makes an ASS out of U and ME"

Check out a bit of software called "game booster" - it works for me - its free - google should point you in the right dirrection
