New system needs tweaking for trainz

Okay, so I finished building my "ultimate" gaming pc. My parts are as follows:

Core i5 Sandy Bridge 2500k o/c'ed to 4.5GHz
8GB Kingston HyperX 1600MHz RAM
570GTX EVGA custom superclocked
500gb 7200rpm 6gb/s hdd

Now with temps cool under full load, I can run any high end fps or other game with no lag, and extremely awesome performance. I'm saying I'm having issues with trainz, but I think there's some tweaking I could do.

Personally, I like to have high frame rates in Trainz, 100+, that was there's no lag or stutter, and the train passes by like video'ing it in real life, not sluggishly passing by. I've been trying to rework the trainzoptions.txt, but not really any luck. The only thing I can say for sure is vsync doesn't help with frame rates.

Anyone have a similar system to mine? Any suggesions?

Thanks guys!

This is my mental checklist for optimizing a new comp:

1. Disable internet/networking
2. Disable firewalls/anti-virus
3. Disable any shares (if disabling networking totally isn't a practical option)
4. Disable any indexing services
5. Disable any other non-critical services

Really, what I'm saying is to run your machine offline, using your old machine as your internet/email machine, only enabling networking as-needed on your new gaming machine, if at all. And, tweak your OS. I have XP and old OS' down pat; I'm not as familiar with Win7 or Vista, but there are plenty of guides out there to help with that.

1) Get an SSD big enough to run Trainz from (60GB would be sufficient).
2) If you haven't done so, set Page File Size to 12GB.

Look at your Nvidia setting and make "Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration" set to "Single display performace mode" this well double your fps.

White Pass, that's the ticket :D

Ever since I did that, Trainz has been flying 2x the speed before, thx!

Lewisner, setting the page file size crashed my computer, but I may have messed something up in the process, but thx for the suggestions!

Sorry it crashed your PC but I cannot imagine how that could have happened? I've had 4 computers and it has never happened on a single one of them.

why are so many people so big on fps if your using an i5 in ts12 i daubt your getting 100fps anyway, one thing you need to realize your eyes cant see more than 60fps anyway i have seen trainz run smooth between 30-40 fps, trainz seems to be more cpu dependant than any other hardware, the fastest hardrive you can afford will make a big impact on lag jitters ect, raid 0, or an ssd card your graphics card doesnt make as much on performance as what you might think
