New Site: Obo's Trainz Locomotive Catalog

Hey folks. Been working through the recommendations. Still have a lot to go, but please keep them coming.

Ed & Spawn: The TPR PA's are up.

dnutter: The NS locos you suggested are up.

Robert: I added all the PacificSeven stuff I could find. Your other suggestions are still in the queue, but I'll get to them.

Michael: In the queue, thanks.

SuperFudd: Your WP SW7 is up.

Truemac: Thanks, in the queue.

Gandalf: I'll be sure to check out your site, and thanks for the kind words.

Regards,

Rob.

Catalogue(English translation)

Surprised to find myself in such illustrious company!

Not sure which version "HOGWARTS EXPRESS" was in, it was popular for a while.
Blue:p :p :p

Up until now I had no way of putting stuff on the DLS because I couldn't figure out the screenshot!

I'll upload them later...busy right now!

Hi, Take a picture of you route using the Print Screen key, Make it a jpeg and resize it to 240 x 180 And add this in your config.file

Code:
 }
thumbnails {
 0 {
  image     "Sandtrainz.jpg"
  width     240
  height     180
 }
}

Catalog

Hi obo,

Great site, sorry I didn't see it earlier. Can I make a suggestion? Could you include the version each loco is built for? The only reason I ask is because some of the earlier steam ones made for Trainz 1.3 do not have an engine sound or have a very poor engine sound linked to the throttle position rather than the wheels.

Cheers,
And Happy New Year to all.

Hi Bill.

> Could you include the version each loco is built for?

All screenshots are taken in 2006. Is there an easy way to tell the original target version for a loco?

(Latest site news is that I've just added 750x1200 versions of all pictures for those visitors who have broadband or a little patience.)

Version

Hi obo,

I think there are only two ways to tell the version the model was made for. The simplest way is look at the version on the DLS page, the other way is to look in the config.txt file.

Cheers,

Hi OBO,

Great site. Anyone here, or near here, have models of an SD7 or SD20 ?
I've got a set of GP7, 9 & 20's, for my 1950's modeling, but have only an SD9. I can do re-skinning for the lines that I want, just need the model. It can even be undecorated.

Thanx, bye bye

Hi Obo, thanks for the great site! Thanks for including my engine!

Just curious why you have the General listed as "General 3"? Should be listed as "General (Museum version)"

Pencil42 is correct, the Civil War General and Texas are also available. If you need "particulars" on those let me know and I'll get them to you.

If you get the chance, would you consider listing the...

Metra EMD F40PH (TRS2004) by Euphod on the site?

Great job by the way :D

Pencil: Thanks for the links. Is there a narrow-gauge steam route you could recommend?

Terry: The General is listed as "General 3" because it has "General" and a 3 painted on the side. :) There is a note with the entry that states "Museum livery", so I hope that covers it - let me know if not. It's a beauty and your other locos are definitely in the queue.

Blutorse: Metras added to the queue. One was there already but I've bumped its priority since you mentioned it.

Thanks for all the kind words, and please keep the suggestions/corrections/whatever coming!

Rob.

Hmmm, Understand your mindset, but since there were no other "General's" with any other numbers, it might get confusing(?).

Not really an issue, just a question I had.

Understood, but to elaborate a bit anyway, it's symptomatic of my struggles to consistently identify steam engines. For diesels/electrics I generally use:

class name | running number | loco name, if any

For anything modern, an internet search will get me a class identification if the loco creator doesn't supply it.

Steam is trickier for a number of mostly obvious reasons (less documentation, classes often nebulous to begin with, more unique engines) so I often have to fall back on whatever I can find as an identifier and hope it gives visitors enough info to know what they're looking at. Sometimes I end up leaving out the class altogether. In this case I went with "General" and added the running number, but upon further review I've gone back and reversed the order to "3 General" which I doubt you'll consider an improvement, but hey.

(This is the kind of stuff that, thanks to my web sites, has been on my mind for the last five years. Aren't computers grand?)
