I'm building a new Gaming PC for my Daughter & partner.Will be running trainz as well as other sims eg WOW etc
He's given me the following specs for the build.He wants to go Intel
But was wondering which is the better option at the moment?
Socket 1155 or socket 2011.

CPU - intel core i7 3820

MB - Gigabyte GA X79 UD3

video card - Geforce GTX570 (1280mb)

Ram - Kingston KHX2133C11D3K4 / 16G 2x8gb kits




power supply 1250w

I like to stay just under the bleeding edge myself, after that, it comes down to price.

It's going to work out to about ($1800) Aus total

The socket 2011 is around 2X the cost as a socket 1155, that's MP, CPU, and cooler.

2011 is Intel's update to 1366, supporting newer technologies such as quad channel memory and PCI-E 3. For maximum performance go with a 2011 build. That does not mean that 1155 should not be considered, as Ivy Bridge is a very capable architecture. 2011 is just that bit better.
