New HD terrain and dig hole

Hi all,

Been manipulating my terrain since the HD terrain was implemented and I have a question. Is it possible to make a dig hole to the size of the new terrain grid? This would be great around tunnel portals as the portal would need minimal added terrain to cover the size of the dig hole. Don't know how to make one or I would try it myself. Thanks in advance.

Jack, I notice nobody has replied to your post for over a year. I hope I get a response quicker.

I also would like to have a Dig Hole for the HD grid. I am building a Cinder pit 12' deep, 15' wide, and 242' long that allows a gondola to go below ground to pick up the cinders. Lowering the ground 12' means the 45-degree slope reaches 12' out from my structure. I really don't want to build a roof over this sloped ground out from my structure.

I’ve seen this posted on the Discord a few months ago. The reply was, no change to the dig hole is in the works.

Of course, perhaps it has changed since then.

Would a glass ground texture work instead of a scenery object called a "Dig Hole"? The glass would be slightly grey, so it had some color to it.

Looks are not the only thing. Can I drive a gondola through the glass, so the car is below ground? I know I can place track below the ground level and push a car along that track until it is below ground. If I turn off the ground texture (i.e. Show Wireframe), I can see the car and the track. Hopefully, having a glass texture will replace the wireframe texture. I will work on creating a glass texture.

we all hope sooner or later N3V will solve that issue as an HD terrain doesn't have meaning without a compatible dig hole for tunnels
