New Hard Drive

I backed up to an external drive and thought that I did good. My hard drive crashed and after getting a new drive and the OS installed I was ready to transfer from the external to my c:drive. I copied the local folder from the external to the local folder on my c:drive after installing Trainz and the patch.

Previous to backing up I had renamed all the items so that I could find them quicker. Such as all trees under TREES, building such as coal mines, factories, etc under Buildings, varoius grasses under you guessed it Grass. So far nothing has shown up the way I labeled them. What gives? Would coping the assets.tdx to my c:drive help? And where are my archives? I know that I archived my routes but nothing appears. Seems like I did everything correctly and yet I got nothing to show for it. I've lost a lot of work. Any suggestions?

Rename game...

Ah, you rename for ease of use, no doubt. I do as well. I'm not saying this is what happened with you, but what has worked for me. When renaming an asset, you MUST also go into the config file and make the same change to the "username" entry. This will ensure that if you delete or somehow lose the asset, the name will retain your change upon re-installation. Again, this is how I ensured my name changes were kept.

I also did that. Hopefully they will magically appear but I won't hold my breath.
