Amazing how often I need to outline this...
With the DLS, you retain your IP (Intellectual Property) rights for the works you create and upload. However, you grant N3V a non exclusive, royalty free, commercial license (e.g. the content could be included as built-in content in a future release), as well as grant permission for your content to be maintained on our website. Part of this is that, if the content is faulty (pretty rare on routes released after TS2009 was released, about the only time it's happened is when they lack a thumbnail in TS12 SP1), we will contact you to fix it.
If, after the designated period (8 weeks for the current DLC clean-up passes), you do not repair the content then it will be made available to the community to repair.
Note, if your route does become faulty (and hence need to be repaired), this does NOT include making changes to the route itself. Only changes to make the asset function (for routes, this should only be config.txt file changes) are permitted under the DLS Clean-up if an asset is made available for the community to repair.
As to downloading content updates, no matter where you download the route from, you'll need to download the updates if you also want all of the dependencies from the DLS (well, unless you waste time manually adding each download to the download helper). These content updates are, for the most part, repairs to broken content, and are generally recommended...
I'm not saying you need to use the DLS, however please check your facts before making the claims you've made.
