New Aircraft

B.Horton,
Hopefully this helps you as it did me.

As Vulcan has explained to me offline & in a way one this forum;

I'll explain in newbie speak ('cause I'm a newbie). {Correct me guys if I've tripped up somewhere.}
Auran has some issues at the moment & Content Manager isn't doing what it should so you have to use the old school black screen DLS. Once you have located the asset via a search, you click on the "Download Page" then use the "FTP" link to download the *.cdp file to your computer. once you've downloaded it you just double click on the file to load it through content manager.

It's a bit long winded, but when the developers are causing issues, you have to work around it.
Frustrating isn't it? But what can you do?

Hope that helps.

Rob

I know, I always use the black-screen with my FCT (Brilliant Christmas Present!), But I always get the Unknown ? when I download at weekends. Any Ideas of what I could do?

No ideas at all. I always use content manager so it's a bit new & frustrating for me. I'm used to content manager dragging the dependancies with the asset so chasing them manually drives me nutty!
The sooner Auran fixes the problem the better......

I was asked for some smaller aircraft suitable for country airports, the Pipers are now available, Piper Cherokee, Piper Arrow and the Piper Warrior.

The Piper Arrow has a retractable undercarriage - more info here:

Thanks Jamie.

I forgot to say that I had upgraded the Piper Seneca to a startup model, but used the same colours. My startup models do not usually obsolete an earlier model of an aircraft, as some users may still wish to use those.

MSGSapper suggested the Pipers then mentioned a crop duster aircraft. I thought this might be interesting, lots of action, so this is the next model, the Air Tractor 802 Crop Duster. This American aircraft is the World's largest single engined aircraft, and is used as a crop duster, and a fire fighting aircraft in Australia.

The hangar in the background will be the model to service the aircraft, it would be nice to have to land to refill the aircraft, but I have not yet worked out a script to do that (consume chemicals when spraying). Of course I have to set up a system, the new hangar as an industry model, special smoke to simulate spray, chemical products etc.

Using the Aircraft Action Trigger or V key you can turn the spray on or off. I may release the demo map for the aircraft to show how versatile the track trigger can be.

I thought I would venture into the fields of video to demomstrate the action:

That Crop Duster is really neat Ian, congratulations on some more fine work.

:):):)

P.S. I am sure the farmer is very happy too :)

Thanks Craig, it is something different, with looped track you can set it up the as a background operation for instance.

Ian

That would be nice, but the plane would have to fly in loops. Just like in the flick i would say. I'm sure the invisible track could make this.

Cheers

Hi

Ian, I like your Piper aircrafts. Good to populate a small airfield near our railway lines.

I am now uploading some new reskins:

An A320 with Air Inter colours:

and a batch European DC3s of the 50's and late 40's: Air France all silver, Sabena, BOAC, and British United.

All DC3s are startup type.

Hi guys, thanks for the interest. Pascal has been busy again, nice paint job.

Yes you lay a series of track loops for the crop duster. Tight turns make the aircraft bank realistically, but you MUST use the Derailment as "None".

The video is made using Fraps, the free version has a watermark, and may have other limitatations. I use a licenced copy. Microsoft Movie Maker is good enough to make a basic movie with titles etc.

While my TS12 is running at 60 frames with the aircraft, it drops to 30 when I take the video with Fraps (need a new computer) - this makes the prop rotation (especially for helicopters) look terrible, it is actuallly much better in Trainz.

 Hi ian

Great looking model's :D Just a thought for you, if you have a second HD make fraps save to it and not the default fraps folder.
Even saveing to a USB device should help out .
