New Aircraft

Hi Gordon,

Nice that you take care of the airport equipment.

I had a look on the catering trucks, and could not find a texture related to the catering company.
In fact, when you are inside sketchup, you should select the face where "sky hi catering" is written, then right click, then explode. Do it also to the other side.
Now you can export to trainz. You will notice that a new texture: rtm_009.tga has appeared. This texture can now be modified to the name of your prefered catering company.

Also there is a resizing tool in sketchup which is easy to use, if you consider the model out of scale.

PS: in the same time, if you can move to origin of the axis to the truck center, it would be great.

Hi Papou,

Thanks for the information, I'll give it a try over the weekend and post an updated model when finished.

Hi nzld,

Just downloaded your truck, but with a poly count of 114470 poly's per truck you may have to be careful on how many you use.
This is not a criticism of using Sketch-up models but just making you aware of the poly count in these assets.
As a comparison my DAF primemovers are under 5500 poly's and I thought that was high.

Just thought I let you know.

Cheers,

Bill.

Thanks Bill, I'll get it right one day, the old grey matter is spinning at the moment just trying to work the basics in 3ds max. :hehe:

Air Canada - Tango

I was boarding a Jazz flight to Vancouver Island this morning to go whale watching out of Campbell River (I wish!) & noticed a couple of strange purple tails with maple leaf logos.

TangotailsYVR.jpg

As it turns out they were a couple of jets operated by Air Canada's low cost, no frills carrier, Tango.

There was an A320 & a Boeing 737 parked at the regional/domestic terminal at Vancouver Airport. The Tango brand is the Air Canada equivalent to Jetstar for Qantas or Tiger for Singapore Airlines.

Sorry guys. I like to make my upload notifications to DLS interesting so I tend to tell a bit of a story. You've probably noticed...:D

So down to business. The A320 is pretty straight forward but the 737 is meant to be a 737-200 which are being phased out for most airlines. I'm not even sure whether Tango is still operationg the 737-200 anymore. They only had 4 to start with. The 737-200 has been around since the late 1960's & was superseded by the 737-400 series. Vulcan doesn't have a 737-200 in his increasing large list of aircraft so I've based it on the more current 737-400 series. They are fairly close to being the same size & capacity.

These two are available on DLS.

Airbus A320-232 Air Canada Tango <kuid2:590184:100136:1>
Boeing 737-200 Air Canada Tango <kuid2:590184:100138:1>

I'm trying to sytematically add aircraft to the family starting with Air Canada & Alaska Airlines. I'd like to fill the gaps for the other major North American carriers. I'm currently working on re-painting the United/Continental aircraft because the two companies merged in November 2011 & consequently have new paint schemes. They have the Continental markings but the United brand name. I've already done a <clone &> logo change on Vulcan's Continental 737-824 and an equivalent re-badge on the Dash-8-400. I still have to re-skin the B767, B737-400, B747-400 & A320 pretty much from scratch. There are no B777, B757, Embraer E190, or Bombardier CRJ models to work with at this point but I will probably do a Gulfstream mimic for the CRJ-200 as well.
Stay Tuned.

Nice work on the B737 Pascal!
Are you doing any other North American ones at the moment so we can make sure we are not overlapping?

I'm currently doing a B767-400ER Continental (outgoing Continental markings) & shortly the following in new United Airlines in post merger colours: - Dash 8-400 (uploaded) B737-824 (uploaded), B737-232, B747-400, B767-300ER, B767-400ER & A320-232
I haven't started but intend repainting a Dash 8-400 in Air Canada Express livery to finish off the Air Canada set.

Gordon,

You're finding loads in 3D Warehouse aren't you? Didn't realise the Antinovs had twin tails. Interesting.

Cheers

Thanks Rob,

This United B737 was done following a request from Stmsoccer.
I am not going to make other Continental planes liveries at the moment.
There are so many airlines in North America, that there is little chance of overlapping!

I should go back now to European companies.

This model was not from the warehouse, exported through 3ds max, I think my days of using google sketchup and the 3d warehouse may be coming to a close.
It had twin tails so it could carry the Russian Space Plane.

when you actually get this airport, you will realize it is not exactly prototypical, but right now there is a lack fo well sceniced airport for you to run. Therefore, I started this one which will be released within a week or two. It is fairly simple, but has good scenery and details.

Ho Ho, starting to look nice, Stmsoccer!

Good atmophere is coming.

I checked for the people series I use in my maps and can give you a small list of Usernames: You are using some of them already.

Nice work on those

Nice work on your DC-10s. . currently due to restrictions on DLS I guess unfortunately those are not available for TRS 2006. . .I would like to see those however. Would that be something you would consider releasing? Also would like to see the Boeing 747 released in colors for Pan Am and Delta (1970s livery although Delta did not own any of these prior to the merger with Northwest)
