New Aircraft

King Airs and some corporate LearJets. Loved it but realized I don't want to spend the rest of my life living out of a suitcase. Flying's a cool gig outside of that.

I realize Trainz wasn't meant to be a flight simulator, but it sure is nice having stuff like Vulcan's. Funny to be saying this again in the same day, but I do think Trainz is a bit unique in that it could certainly evolve into a world simulator. It has a 3D rendering engine, which is a requirement. But it also has some kind of physics engine while perhaps not perfect, exists. It has an easy-to-use method of making routes (Surveyor), and a large support base. As I mentioned to someone else earlier today - though I've said this before - I suspect, with a little bit of rework, Trainz could be used to create a 3D, player-immersed SimCity, among its other potential. I suspect that Auran is doing precisely this kind of thing with it's many (and some very oddball) simulation offerings.

Check your GIMP version. Mine always asks if I want to compress at save time and I untick the check box.

My version (2.6.10) only asks about RLE compression only when I use save as not when I just click on save.

Josh, to find the file I find it easier to first open GIMP then to open Content Manager and right click click on the aircraft and open it for edit in Explorer. A window will pop up with the editing file and copy the address from the address bar. Now click on open in GIMP and paste the address into the address bar and hit open. It should then open the file.

Hope that wasn't to confusing!

Hi Gordon,

Looking forward to seeing Ohakea again. It was a pit-stop at the airforce museum for me, when going down to visit my cousin in Wellington; from where I lived in Tauranga. :)
I could quite easily spend a very pleasant good couple of hours there.
Unfortunately that too was closed down. :(
However Tauranga has an excellent museum; "Classic Flyers".
I used to volunteer there Friday mornings:-
Classic Flyers New Zealand

I hope this update has helped, my aim is a close representation rather than exact duplicate.

Gordon your route is looking HUGE, I did not know New Zealand was that big :hehe:

Are you thinking of releasing it one day?

Craig

Looking good Gordon!
I see the Defence Force have had a bit of a shopping spree! :hehe: :hehe: (No Skyhawks as far as I know)
Dosen't Ohaeka have the capacity for 747s? Make for an interesting session!

Hi Craig,

I might release it once i've got the line done to wanganui and woodvile. going through to woodvile from my hutt valley line would allow the trainz to go back to wellington via palmerston north.

Map 64MB, session 300kb , Assets 700MB ( and counting )

Hi nzms,

The A-4's are cardboard mockup's by wetta workshops, to fool the satelites into to thinking that our Air Force has more than a couple of hand gliders with flour bombs attached.

The F/A 18's are the only aircraft we could afford to lease, no weapons and the jets engines have been replaced by a couple of engines from a Britton 1000 motorbike with pusher props.

Gordon :hehe: :hehe: :hehe:

Oh I forgot, Ohakea is the Emergency back up airfield for wellington and Christchurch when it comes to 747's. the down side is you can't disembark you have to sit in the plane until you can land at your correct destination.

Hi Patricia

I have this model of the Rega Air Rescue and hope that Ian may be able to upgrade it at some stage to use Boats aircraft trigger. With the flexibility of the trigger you could have the doors open, winch operate etc...
