New Aircraft

Another DC3 fan!! Thanks Bruno for these reskins.

Together with a serie of Airbus A380 updated to Startup, you can find at the DLS 3 DHC2 Beavers, wearing colours of the US Air Force and Marines, in Europe circa 1955-65.

Good Afternoon Everyone --

What airplane at the DLS are crop dusters?
Perhaps you guys can point me in the right direction!

Thanks
Ish

Have any of you creators given consideration for a aircraft engine that would cradled in an engine stand used for transport? These could be products and scenery items:

Thanks for looking,
John

Is it? It almost is...

Unusual visitor to New Plymouth Airport today.

Yes! It's a 737-300 pretending to be a 737-219 ;)

Despite a few differences, (eg the engines,) it still looks pretty good in it's 1980's colours. (Same mesh used as Vulcan's Air New Zealand 737-3U3.)

Available on DLS in next 24 hours (KUID:591192:1121 or search "ZK-NAE")

Just butting in, but, has anybody wished Seeseme a Happy Birthday?. He 'came up' on my calendar yesterday.
Happy Birthday Craig, if your watching. :)

It seems that people have been importing freeware air and hovercraft from the flight simulator community recently. A number of the aircraft I have seen recently, I have used in FSX.

Lockheed AP-3C Orion - RAAF

This has been a common site around Perth of late.

AP-3CAltitude_zps09979bc6.jpg

The hunt for MH370 has changed RAAF Pearce from a training base to a busy hub for search aircraft. The RAAF have four AP-3C Orion aircraft at work alongside a P-3C from the RNZAF and two from Japan. The US Navy have a brand new P-8A Poseidon here along with aircraft from India & China.

AP-3C4off02_zps5ba916c0.jpg

You have to feel for the crews conducting the search. At one point they were flying four hours and 2500kms to the search area, searching for two hours before flying another four hours back to Perth only to do it all again the next day. The search area is in a very remote part of the planet with some of the wildest weather.

The AP-3C is unique the the RAAF. In the late 90s the RAAF upgraded the P-3C Orion fleet with new avionics and new search equipment creating the new AP-3C designation. It extended the life of these enduring aircraft by nearly 20 years. The Orion first appeared in the skies in the mid sixties & it is testament to the aircraft design that no aircraft has been able to do a better job until the P-8A was rolled out last year.

The AP-3C Orion is now available on DLS.

Hercules Updates

The Hercules fleet has been updated recently with new features including wing flaps, start up flashers, re-modeled rear door, animated translucent props and re-modeled prop blades. There have been a few paint touch ups as well including the prop colour schemes on all models. Where a red prop tip is used, a different translucent high speed prop with the red outer ring has been substituted. There are a few other tweaks with trigger settings and other programing/animation bits with the most notable being the ability to flare on take of and landing (trigger 3/V). H-key is now the rear door operation. The names of the assets have been changed in a number of cases to match the aircraft designation but the KUID series has been retained.

The RAAF has two representatives. The white version is the original model done by Vulcan. For re-skinners, this is the original from which all the others are cloned from. The camouflage version is also a Vulcan skin but I have adapted it to the new model & done a couple of little paint touch ups to match. That update has now been released by Vulcan to DLS.

The RNZAF again is originally a Vulcan skin and, like the RAAF camo, I've adapted it for the updated model and sent it back for upload by Vulcan. The adaptions include a different load set that mirrors the LC-130 (building products instead of a tank). This one has the red prop tips. I've made a couple of paint corrections to my LC-130 and changed out the props.

The US Coast Guard HC-130H is another red prop tip version. The load has been changed as well to suit the aircraft usage. The nose has been painted black to match the real aircraft. This is another Vulcan original that I've adapted to the model updates. The photo below shows the red prop rings.

HC-130HUSCG01_zps4dd639b3.jpg

Last but not least is the RCAF CC-130. This is also a red prop tip variant. I've tweaked the loads a bit to suit the Canadian Aircraft.

Vulcan & I agreed that if I did the grunt work for three of the four Vulcan Hercs, it would free him up to do the more important modelling work for us all. I intend to continue that strategy for a number of other updated models (B737, B747 & A320 to name a few). The only Hercs still to be updated are the Spectre Gunship & Pascal's Fat Albert of the Blue Angels. The Spectre is a special model that I think is all but complete. Pascal will no doubt get to Fat Albert when he gets a chance. It will need some interface with Vulcan to add the JATO bottles and smarts that are included on the LC-130.
The rest are now available on DLS.

Nice work Rob and Pascal,

Rob has been updating my models as he has explained, I would be quite happy for him to upload them direct, but unfortunately they have to be uploaded under my User ID so we can obsolete the old ones. I appreciate the work I do not have to do in reskinning or updating. :)

Just taking a break from aircraft for a while I have been looking at the Model Railroadz concept covered in some recent posts.

Ian

Hey Ian, take your break quietly!! Due to your work, we have enough to reskin, update, modify for the moment..

Another batch of Boeing 747, updated to Startup standard, and transferred to the DLS today:

Hi Noel, been a while, thanks.

Just doing some other kind of models for a while, and finding there is a lot I have yet to learn. :)

Hi,

Two new reskins for today:

A SE210 Caravelle, operated by UTA. Seen here with the DC10 of the same company in 1973.
