New Aircraft

I would love to see some Asian airline skins too. I know several exist, but I'm sure most of you would agree with me in that Asia is generally unrepresented in Trainz as a whole.

So I toss up yet another difficult gauntlet for those who are interested: :hehe:

Gisa, Cathay Pacific fly to Auckland, so us down under can find a use for it as well and I'm sure a Q400 can subsitute itself for an ATR-72 of American Eagle. I hope to see some screenshots sometime!

Thanks for the comments Ish :D .

Sounds good. :D Pierre Elliot Trudeau (PET) is within (distant) eye shot of the AMT/VIA Dorval station. I may model a part of it but I'm more interested in the rail line for now (I've got about 65 km of trackage to texture/foliage/etc...that's a long ways off for now but I do know that that planes taking off/landing approach over the tracks near the station (and would make for excellent eye candy).

A video here, although you can't see the station you can see the tracks at 1:17:

another video, but too shaky and not so great in quality from the nearest station itself:

The nearest runway is perhaps 1.5 kilometers from the station. Anyhow, I'll see what I can do eventually. :)

Busi-ness of late, and I've started lurking Aircraft

Thanks for the re-skins Maynard and Papou

NZMS, did the C-130 ever get up-loaded??

Thanks IShie, do you have any more airport items??

Jamie

Many thanks Ish, I just noticed them.

To everyone, it's great to see the interest in this thread and Airports. Especially the contributions made with new reskins, some of those will be very handy.

I did send a model for you to test (hopefully) and I am waiting for the new C-130 to be released, so it has the start up function, then I will upload.

The first lot of reskins have hit the DLS:
  • De Havilland Dash 8-300 LIAT
  • American Airlines 737-800
  • Air Canada 767-300
will upload some more over the next few days.

Ish, I'm looking foward to using you content for my airports! :D

Cheers,

Different airplane versions of the skins you've put out would be great too,

Also, has anyone done a US Airways skin?

Me again, with An Air Canada A320 and U.S Airways A320,

Nice Skins again Maynard

Does anyone know the amount of landing space required for an

A380
747
767
737
727
A320
Dash 8

Is it the same for the Take Off distance??

I would have thought that the necessary distance was greater for the A380 with it's size, but I've deduced that it apparently only needs 3,353m of space (in doing my research for Montreal's PET [this is the newest/longest runway there] ). I'm sure there are some specs on landing requirements somewhere though...

I also recall, in airport mogul (an old but classic game) that 4000 M runways were the largest you could buy and they handled the largest planes.

- Atlanta's HJ has a runway that is not much larger (3,624m)
- Chicago's OH has a runway that is 3,962 m long.

Therefore, 4000 m should easily do the trick. :)

A thank you note

Thanks guys for the kind words --

Just remember that the Terminal has no doors, etc! I posted an instructions on what to use for that!

Hope you enjoy the contents!

Hey Gisa,

I play x-plane and Microsoft Sim, etc .... runways run from 1000 - 16,000ft which is about 3 miles -- I made some spline and static runways which still need to be updated -- the longest runway in the world is located at Edwards Air Force Base in California, where the space shuttle lands, which stretches 7.5 miles!

Ish.
In case you missed my earlier pics ? this one is of "Lukla Airport" in Nepal also one shown on the TV show, and is WIP.

Hi Norm,

Yes, sir -- I must have missed, sorry! Great shotz there!

Is that the route that you and Craig are working on, or that's your won creation, sir?

Right on. Wow 16,000 ft! I wonder where the world's longest commercial runway is?

7.5 miles? :O Well, I suppose at the speeds that the shuttle is coming in at, it needs something a bit larger than usual. ;)

This can all vary with many factors being used to determine the length. A good site to look through is http://www.airliners.net/aviation-forums/tech_ops/read.main/168330/ It will give you alot about aircraft stats. The A380 uses less fuel so could take off on a shorter runway compared to a smaller plane with a heavier fuel load with both flying to the same destination.

Denver International Airport, at 16,000ft!!!

I did the 7.5 miles in gmax a long time ago, but it was way too long -- looked kind of funny, too!

7.5 miles = 12 070.08 meters

From Wikipedia
Take off run at when loaded to Maximum Take-off Weight.
A380: 2,750 m
747-400: 3,018 m
767-300: 2,410 m
737-800: 2,450 m
727: 1,768 m
A320-200: 2,090 m
Dash 8-400: 1,402m

Just checked out the reskins and had to say...
