Need large yards

Hey all, I am trying to make a route that is mainly a storage for consists. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good, large, complex yards on the DLS that I could merge with my existing route. I already have the one made by caddylars but could use more. Thanks!;)

Not sure how you define 'big', but have a look at McCall Yard at checkrail - just click my sig and follow the links...

track alignment tool 50 tracks 5m Type: by:arjen-0 KUID:<KUID2:222633:485050:1>

This handy dandy tool makes laying parallel yard tracks a breeze, if you want to make your own staging yard.

Enola Yard, and Mohawk Yard are huge, as is the USLW - NS Reading Lines route with classification yards in Reading and Allentown

Rather than using a storage yard for your consists, you should consider using portals and the Portal Timetable Rule. I did this and it made a big difference on how well Trainz runs. I built a bunch of consists and saved them in Surveyor and when my sessions start, it loads faster because it has a minimal amount of rolling stock to load on startup.

You might also want to consider the QuickPortalManagerV2 or V3 by pguy. These, along with his QuickDriveRuleV2 support multiple days of operations. Different consists can be emitted in the same time slot on different days or no consist can be emmitted in that time slot. Great way to manage lots of trains on a large route.

The largest yards I know of are by caddylars and can be found on GAURC. He is rumored to be working on the largest classification yard in the world - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bailey_Yard - in North Platte Nebraska.

I agree with Mouse84 and Dap. Big yards are pretty, but they sure eat up a lot of resources with all the track and rolling stock.

If you DO plan on making a yard, use low poly track so the frame rates aren't killed by the polygons.

I learned the hard way awhile ago on this. Move along great then stutter, stutter, stutter to the other side!

need large yard

I use emit train now rule with the re-rail portal. Make up my trains in survey and have them come out when ever i wont them to. With the re-rail portal you can emit cars only if you wanted. The Emit train now from jointedrail will list all the rolling stock in your game.(built in,down loaded, and 3rd party)
