Need Help - patches and cursor

Hi friends,

1. I've reinstalled trains 12 after being away for a few years. Installed SP1 then attempted hot patch 1 It didn't take. Neither did the rest. Then attempted HP 4 and wish I had started there to begin with. Anyway it failed because it could not establish one file and said that there were traces o previous hot patch installation attempts. How do I clear away that junk?

2. If I run Trains using the Full screen option I have no cursor after the initial small grey screen. Any fixes By the way run it in the small screen mode I have a cursor

1. Which file did it object to? For certain files, there are workarounds.
2. Check if you have cursor trails turned on in the Control Panel.

GREAT! I have a cursor now!


I am running version 57720. When I run patch 4 the message is: Failed to create backup file F:\TS12\bin\Debuggerinterface_7c.dll.pbk

Wondering if I should just reinstall?

If it's present, try deleting it then attempt a re-patch. Same with any other .pbk files in the Trainz folder.

i was wrong

the .dll file is present not the dll.pbk file UGH! Sorrry

It may be worth re-trying the patch, but if you are using Windows Vista or later right-click the patch file and use Run As Administrator.

All is well!. I downloaded a new copy of hot patch 4 and it ran flawlessly! I should have thought of hat in the first place. A good thing to keep in mind for the next patch!

Indeed, but I can tell you it doesn't work in every single case (it works in some and not others).
