Nearly 1000+ files on the DLS - no description??

There has to be a better way than to clog up the Download Station with over 1000+ small individual listings, NONE of which have ANY description to help anyone who isn't Russian from figuring out what is being offered. How about posting a couple hundred at a time, then mingling in other files, before choking the Download Station with another 400-600 of the same?

Seriously, 10 plus pages of files with no description? And this has been on top of several other days of the same. What are they? Miscellaneous WHAT?

There's actually a total of 1,000 of those 'Reserved' assets that have been uploaded by a Russian user and their not even a place holder, configs are pretty much empty.

This is completely annoying and uncalled for! If I hadn't checked the files uploaded in that category yesterday, I wouldn't be able to see anything uploaded the past few days! No one should be allowed to upload that many files, or at least N3V should limit how many they post in one day. Ridiculous...

I took the liberty of opening a helpdesk ticket with the status of "emergency", since this appears to be a spamming attempt.

Does this reflect that no N3V employees are monitoring the content? It only takes a few minutes. Wonder why they are unable to perform this simple task? The answer to this one should be interesting.

It used to be someone at Auran had to actually look at each and every uploaded asset (config file included) before approving it. It appears now that no one looks at anything as the entire process seems to be fully automated.

The good old days weren't always bad.

Not interesting but boring:
Those minutes cost manpower, so money.
There is no gain.

If a profit aimed company has to make the choice between doing something that at some point makes money and doing something that only costs money, they go for the first.

Although these almost empty useless assets are as annoying to me as they are to you, they are just a few bytes each so the (storage) costs are next to nothing and the cost of keeping them out is more.
I hope these "reserved" or whatever they are called assets either disappear or turn into whatever they are reserved for, but don't be surprised if that wont be any time soon.

Thank you to all who have reported this. We are going to look into this, however these assets are not causing any direct issues (apart from the DLS website being a little, ah, flooded at the moment). We will, as before, be looking into this as there is no real reason to upload 'placeholder' assets like this unless you specifically need them to (e.g. I've released a signal that aliased another similar signal as a placeholder till I built the real one, so I could release the route it was on; the placeholder got released a little prematurely though as the route is still unreleased, and the correct signal built lol).

That was the Kalimari Desert Train, not the Spirit Tracks one. But the same guy 'ripped' it.

That matter has been settled now and it's best to not bring it back up.

Is username is "krash1". I think that set's his intentions out pretty clearly. I posted a thread about this in the DLS section before I saw this, good that N3V are already on it.

What is so complex about deleting the KRASH1 stuff and notifying the author. Block him/her until N3V receives a reasonable response. Either the person is unaware of some script running or they are malicious. The reason is not relevant right now. Erase and block - period. Good contributions are being masked by this activity.

The Zec message does not make any sense.

In CM for download filters add following:

AND NOT
Author krash_01

This will prevent you even seeing these assets and will avoid your accidental download of them.

As 991 assets were uploaded on Aug 21 2013, each one 35.74 kb in size, by username: krash_01, I would think that all these assets are non trainz related, and were spammed in mass, intentionaly.

If they are not truely useful Trainz assets I would think that removal of all the assets would be manditory.

Has anyone figured out what these 991 assets really are ?

I'm not going to touch them with a ten foot pole !

We are currently looking into this. If this is simply an honest mistake, then we would prefer to assist them with learning how the DLS works. As it is, these assets are not specifically hurting anyone, except that they have somewhat clogged up the DLS website (we are looking into this side of things to start with, as removing these assets is not a straightforward exercise, due to the number of them).
