Navigate vs Drive

Hi all,
what is the difference between Drive to... and Navigate to...?

I guess that it should be obvious, but not to me!

Another question:
many routes have scenarios where you must drive the train to a destination and set the points as you go. Is it possible to have the AI set the route without actually driving the train? i.e. leave me as the driver, but have a controoler automatically set the route.

thanks in advance,
David.

thanks for the response.

Re my question about driving a train (without needing to set points/routes): I tried your suggestion of using the Navigate command and then clearing the command. There are 2 problems with that technique. Firstly when the command is cleared the points revert back to what they were and, secondly, many of the points are not changed by the AI until the train is close to them. Therefore this does not help.

What I would like is what a driver would do: drive the route that is set by the controller (in this case that would be the AI).

Any other suggestion?

thanks.

(clarification: I am trying the Murchison Pas route available from Auran. It is a great route and excellent scenery. Some of the passenger scenarios require halting the simulation, studying the map which can get complicated) and then manually setting the points. The introduction seems to imply that you can use commands to set the route and then you can drive the consist, but I cannot see how to do it...)

David,

There are some AI path tools available by a user whose name just waffed out of my head at the moment. This allows you to setup a path for the AI drivers which sets the points ahead of time. It takes time, from what I read, to configure because you need to enter in the junction numbers.

I can't help you on the command though because I haven't used it yet.

John
