Mid Sodor Railway!!

someone said something about the MSR? (mid sodor/ midland sodor railway) Well do i have a surprise for you:D... For a while Benk87 and I have been working on a Trainz version of the MSR (benk did the tracklaying which is very very accurate to the book) and I'm doing the scenery. Unfortunately it has come to be passed by on other routes like my Rhieds Railway V2, and The Aberglassylnn Light Railway. I do have invisible track where the "bulldog" story takes place, as well as some areas never mentioned in the books (ex: the docks where the little engines exchanged passengers with the mainland) The MSR was supposed to be similar to the Ffestiniog Railway but at a gauge of 2'3" (like the Talyllyn) hbl is planning on making the Skarloey Railway (Someone has made one already but I for got who...) and I asked if he could make it so that the two could be joined at one point or another. As a little fact: contrary to the TV show the SR (skarloey) is not built over the MSR, the Arlesdale Railway IS built over the old MSR line, so it is odd that the show never introduced us to the "little railway" instead choosing to use the SR instead....:confused:

Now....My two favourite locos from Sodor.........Peter Sam and Duke (grandpuff) pause at Tan-y-Bwlch for water on the Thomas and Friends weekend.

The return trip terminated a Minffordd where a mainline connection was arranged to pick up the passengers and take them back to Sodor.

(if you can tell me what you think of the engines, if they look right)

cheers, Daniel

I really hate to be picky but....
Peter Sam & Edward Thomas are very different from Stanhope. Stanhope has a different valve arrangement and is a little longer than ET, but seeing as we are all patiently waiting for a SH and ET (Sir Haydn and Edward Thomas) its is fine. Nice work on the re-skin though! :D (it looks better than some that i've done, which I wont post pictures of...)
I've been secretly running Stanhope with the TR passenger cars just because I miss ET...

But on a plus side I am making a 0-4-2 Tattoo class similar to ET so... when its done I presume that I could make a "peter sam" skin by request... ;)

the FR looks good 3830:D
Cheers
Jeremy!!:):):)

@DaSnakke,The loco thats collieded with the steam roller is called Linda made my Kevmt, and i don't know the other loco.

@ Jeremy, I know there not perfect. But i wanted some nice looking locos for the SR that i could make myself, so there we have it. I had no intention of releasing them, but i couldn't anyway and thanks for the complement.

I will post some pics of the ffestiniog later. But i'm letting myself build-up lots of places to take pics of.

cheers, Daniel

@Dasnakke- the other loco is either Jack, Dulcie, or the other one. but it is on the DLS as a set of three or four locos:D. search for Jack, or Dulcie. you should get something...

Aha! So this is where all you narrowgaugers have been hiding! The FR is looking really nice 3830, although I can see what kevmt means about the sleeper spacing.

@Dasnakke - The 2 locos you are looking for are:
Linda - downloadable from http://www.festrail.co.uk/downloads_for_trainz.htm
and NSW PSD Krauss KUID:63971:6854:2 . This is available with 4 different names altogether: 'Archie', 'Jack', 'Dulcie' and 'Robin' A search of the DLS for 'krauss' should find what you're looking for.

No problem, Daniel. As long as they are for your private use then there is no problem, but I must ask you not to post screenshots of them or pass them on.

Its always best to ask before starting work on any reskin (not just mine) and not post screenshots of them before asking.

On a brighter note, your version of the Ffestiniog route is coming along well :)
I have some Ffestiniog track on my computer that was never released (using genuine Ffest texturing!). The track that your using doesn't look quite right. The sleeper spacing seems too close together (more like standard gauge sleeper spacing).
I'll try and get mine packaged and uploaded to the DLS this week.

Cheers,
Kevin
Whhy don't you allow reskins?

Whhy don't you allow reskins?

its very complicated with the thomas the tank engine ones. A great deal of licensing has to be done before you or anyone else makes a copy of a copyrighted thing. Money is usually involved. If you wonder why MSTnoodle hasnt made the rest of the Skarloey Railway stuff, its probably because of that. He was supposed to make Sakrloey, Proteus, and possibly mighty mac, but here lies the copyright. anything that looks really like these entities could be brought up in court as violating the copyright:( which is stupid if you ask me...

-Jeremy

(p.s. let me go get some screenies to get this back on topic :D)

Well now I've been woken up to the copyright and all that. It is really stupid, jeese, its a computer generated model with a face on it. Its not that bad!!!

BTW, Kevmt hows your locos for the FR going?:D

cheers, Daniel

Why don't you allow reskins?

I would say that kevmt has made a massive contribution to UK narrow gauge Trainz and MSTS content, and therefore I feel that we all owe him a great deal, so the least we can do is respect his reasonable requests for reskins not to be made public including screenshots. I myself have made several reskins of his stock to boost my FR fleet which I do not share or advertise at kevmt's request.

any way here is a pic form my up coming durango & Silverton RR
