The platform seemed fine when I installed it. All it said was that there was a missing dependency, but I've got so many working engines that say they have missing dependencies that I just ignored it. However, when I put the platform into my railroad, a fatal error occurred that caused the program to crash.

I think the missing dependency has to do with one of the two tracks. The standard gauge side was there, but there was no track on the narrow gauge side. When I connected my narrow gauge track to it, that's when the error happened. Would the missing dependency, by any chance, be a type of narrow gauge track I have to install before I can use it?

Hi Curtis,

Nice platform, made me remember an old hope of mine.

Do you happen to know a way to make a item like that platform, but without the platform so to speak?
A direct transfer from a car to another?

Back before when I asked this question, even a guy at Auran told it should work (in theory at least), but I never found any way or anybody to help figure it out.
I know your busy, so don't spend to much time on it, I just wanted to drop the idea into your head as you seem to understand the scripting part better then me. LOL
Great stuff you make, this platform might end up on a version of Northbay I have laying around which predates the 2006 version (my take that is ).

One idea would be to make an invisible platform and goods. These then would go through the transfer process invisibly.

You could also animate a couple men, or a chain of, that would appear to unload and load the goods. They would be the platform in theory.

Just a thought for what it's worth...

Hi Linda! Nice to hear from you again!
Yes, I do think it's possible. These platforms have the unfortunate issue of not loading a train that is already parked at the platform when the unloading train arrives - the parked train has to start then stop again to trigger the loading. I've been given a couple of ideas on how to fix that; those fixes should enable your idea, as well.
And, feel free to take this platform and make any changes to it to better fit your route. I'll post the source files shortly, but I need to read a story to the kid first

I just checked them and I found them. Did you tic the kuid option and all versions below your TRS version?

Alright, so does anybody have any suggestions to add to a logging and mining narrow gauge railroad? I'm kind of stuck at the point I'm at. I can't think of what to put in next.

I've come to a bit of a snag with the mining section of my railroad.:'( I'm not sure what to do next. Currently, the railroad has climbed about 100 meters through a canyon with a river at the bottom. It has done some side-winding to get higher up on the mountain and its finally breaking away from the river. Anybody have any ideas on what to do next?

Maybe as the track pulls away from the river you should make the track climb and go through a tunnel

I've already done a tunnel, as a matter of fact. The train goes through it and then comes out in the canyon. Still, two tunnels doesn't hurt. Thanks.

I recently finished a 3ft narrow gauge route from durango to ridgway.
The route is in the winter and looks nice. But im wondering how to put it in the Dls.

It has to be saved into .CDP format then click on the Profile link at the top of this forum. Once there, click on Your Content then the Upload Content button.

If you're using '06, I think everything is done through CMP.

Hey, I'm getting back to looking for some really good narrow gauge steam engines... well, actually, any gauge would be great. I know I've got a lot, but one can never have too many steam engines in my opinion. I've used Railserve and have gotten quite a bit of stuff off of that. Some of the stuff I'd really like would be big engines, seeing as I've got only the Bigboy and a 2-6-6-2 Uintah. Perhaps a Challenger or a 2-8-8-2 would be really cool. Anyone know where to find stuff like that?

Hey, on the layout I'm working on I want to have a load transfer from one track to another. IE: I want the narrow gauge railroad to take the processed lumber from the mill down to the standard gauge line and drop it off so that it can be picked up by the standard gauge line. Any ideas on how to do this?

Use the link facility within the PL industry assets.

Try this:
- Put a PL Lumber on each of the two tracks.
- Set the NG one to unload the lumber and consume it.
- Set the SG one to produce X units of lumber for every X units of lumber unloaded and consumed on the NG one, then load them.

I've tried it and it works brilliantly. Put a derrick crane next to the two tracks and watch the NG cars unload and the SG ones load up!

Yeah, I might just give that a try, though thanks to Pencil42 I've now got a platform that does that for me. It's a bit simpler and not quite as complex, but still, your idea sounds like it'd have some nice looks to it. I'll have to see what it turns out to look like. Thanks.

There is actually was a 3ft gauge 2-8-8-2t, it was used in Columbia (South America) here are some photos: http://narrowmind.railfan.net/2882T_FNdC_left.JPG and then another: http://narrowmind.railfan.net/2882T_FNdC_right.JPG but it evidently suffered a boiler explosion one day, quite a shame really. I wonder if there is anything left...
