Naming Content in Local Folder

After "commiting" downloaded content in CMP, it assigns the content to a folder in the Local Directory..........with a rediculous name like "content38t7540g554" .......making it a nightmare trying to find things.

Is it possible to rename these folders without messing up the sims access to this content for Driver and Surveyor?

Thanks,

Mark

Mark,
TRS2006 changed the storage structure to a Database Management System of some sort and the local folder had you locally download data in a semi-binary format. This format plus the 'rediculous name' structure is what allows TRS2006 to load things 10 times faster than TRS2004. The access to the database is via CMP which is (believe it or not) very efficient for finding stuff and does all necessary conversions for you so you can edit them. The only problem is its tendency to crash:wave:

If you want to change something, Open for Edit in CMP. When you do this, it is moved to the Edit folder where the folder name is changed to the item's name so you can find it. I normally do this, CCP takes too long for me and I still can't understand it, this method hasn't crashed on me yet.

When I need to edit content, I try to use Explorer rather than CMP as much as possible.

CMP has proven to be dreadfully slow or often non-responsive. But as a last resort I will try to open the content in CMP even if it means waiting for half an hour for it to open.

My first and only experience with 'Trainz' has been 2006. I know about the 04 naming conventions from the forum and with 10,000 plus items of content available for use, I have to agree the alpha-numerical system in use does present a more 'computer friendly' way to categorize even if it's not 'human friendly'.

Skrogsgorks,
I think you're referring to CCP not CMP. CCP is very slow to come up sometimes but using CMP to edit in Explorer is fast.
