What about k4 1361? It can running out of Altoona on the NS steam program. If the TVRM restored the K4 to service.
Ok, it is VERY clear of dpfan1's mentallity. First he asks if 1361 should be rebuilt at Steamtown. Then he asks if it should be rebuilt at Strasburg. Now he asks if it should be rebuilt at Tennessee Valley. When we tell him "It can't be rebuilt at (insert railroad here)", he thinks we mean "(Said railroad) isn't smart/resourceful enough to rebuild 1361" instead of what we really mean, "1361 is in such terrible shape thanks to being worn out by the Pennsylvania Railroad that it would take MILLION OF DOLLARS to rebuild. Anyone could rebuild it, but the state of Pennsylvania is paying for it, they have spent TWO MILLION DOLLARS already for the rebuild, and the state of Pennsylvania is currently in an economic recession, just like the rest of the country." We tell dpfan1 this, and he ignores. YOU ARE SELFISH DPFAN1. You really want to put a damn steam engine ahead of the state of your state's economy? Just crawl back and play Lycoming Valley on your TRS. It's the only place you'll ever be good for.
How about the 425? It has the power to pull dozen of heavyweight cars on NS.
and beside's it will be the frist 4-6-2 added on the NS steam program. Ever since the the S&A 4-6-2 750 run on the Southern steam program.
Jeez, so much crap to shift through. As the saying goes, "The BS is piling up so fast I need a shovel."
Ok, the 425 CAN ONLY HANDLE A DOZEN HEAVYWEIGHTS WITH A DIESEL. Therefore, it is NOT POWERFUL ENOUGH TO PULL A DOZEN HEAVYWEIGHTS. Norfolk Southern's coaches are heavier than RBMN's heavyweights as well, so the 425 would be severally underpowered on NS. When the 750 ran for NS, it could only handle six heavyweights at 60mph BY ITSELF. The 425 would not fare any better, and NS wouldn't feel compelled to borrow an engine owned by a regional railroad. Don't use the historical argument either, as the 425 was owned by the Gulf, Moble and Northern Railroad, which later became part of Gulf, Mobile and Ohio, later part of Illinois Central (Gulf), and is now part of Canadian National. The very opposite of Norfolk Southern.
By the way, S&A 750 was not the only Pacific that ran for the Southern/NS steam program. The other Pacifics that ran were the "Flying Scotsman" (overseas for its United States visit), Canadian Pacific 1238 (stepping in for 4501), Louisville & Nashville 152 (1988 excursions) and Atlanta & West Point 290 (leased for two excursions).
The 425 can pull 12 R&N and NS coachs. With two R&N SD40-2's. from Port clinton to Johnstown.
And now you have the audacity to answer your own stupid question? I'm tired of holding back, so I'll just make it blatant
YOU ARE MADE OF STUPID. By the way, Johnstown? How do you get that from "Jim Thrope"? The 425 has never ran to Johnstown. It's amazing how you get facts wrong ABOUT ENGINES YOU CLAIM TO BE AN EXPERT ON.
Is the TVRM going to repaint the 4501 back to it,s southern RR green?
WHAT DOES DANNY PHANTOM HAVE TO DO WITH TRAINS??? YOU ARE MADE OF STUPID
Are you going to just ignore my private message? I now refuse to answer any private messages if you blatantly ignore them. This is a primarily RAILROAD SIMULATOR forum. JOIN A FORUM THAT ACTUALLY CONCENTRATES ON RAILFANNING. Because all of those forums have already answered that question: TVRM already said that 4501 will go back to the Green and Gold. TWO MINUTES ON RYPN OR TRAINORDERS ANSWERED YOUR QUESTION. USE LEGITIMATE SOURCES
the 475 is the Oldest N&W steam locomotive.
You see the 475 was built By the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Eddystone PA back in 1906. It was purchased for the Norfolk and Western for mix train service on N&W branch lines in VA. The 475 was retired from the N&W steam roster back in 1958-1959. In 1987 the 475 Was purchased by the boone railroad museum of Boone Iowa. But never run at boone. In 1991 the Strasburg purchased the 475 from the Boone Railroad museum. And it took two years for the 475 to be returned to steam. In 1993 the 475 had made it's debut at strasburg. Then in 2006 the 475 turned a 100 years old. Then in 2010 the 475 was it's long scrapped sister 382 for a photo charter.
information from the road to paradise book and Wikipedia.
let me know if i got the information wrong. thank you
I can't use the age argument as 630 is just as old. All I can say is that this post is (and thread) is pointless. I already knew all of these facts, and they are well known to anyone does the slightest bit of research on 475. NO ONE ASKED TO KNOW THE INFORMATION OF ANY OF THESE ENGINES. YOU ARE NOT BEING CLEVER OR INTELLIGENT, YOU ARE SIMPLY MAKING YOURSELF LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT FOAMER. KEEP THINGS TO YOURSELF. POSTING INFORMATION OFF WIKIPEDIA DOES NOT MAKE YOU SMART. LEARN SELF CONTROL. AND LEARN TO SPELL.
I have had it with this stupidity. If I had any power on this forum, I would make sure that dpfan1 was banned for life. I would send his name to every other railroad forum online so he can never again post on a train forum. I normally say that everyone has a right to use a forum, but dpfan1 has failed so epically, so regularly, and is so dense that I feel he does not deserve that priviledge. I feel dumber everytime he posts, and I'm certain many others feel the same.
I will end on one other thing that stands out in my mind for dpfan1's blatant disregard for common sense. Apparently, dpfan1 joined a 1chan site last month. He posted so much stupidity on there that they banned him. That's right, a website known for allowing trolls, flamers and annoyomous posters BANNED dpfan1. You have to epically fail to manage to do that
