Final vid, the trip home :)

hope you like em!

You're a lucky lad young James going to Australia, thanks for posting these vids, brought back a few memories for me as well, seeing Uluru again in all her glory. Didn't get chance to go on the Ghan though, those sleepers look a bit like cruise-ship compartments, very sleek.....When you're a bit older I suppose you'll want a career in movie-making, I can see there is some potential there.....:p

Cheerz. ex-railwayman.

Ayers Rock is not the biggest rock in the world!

Jimmyp4 about your second video of Ayers Rock & the middle "nothingless"

FACT:
Jimmyp4 & others did you know that Ayers Rock is not the biggest rock in the world?
Now should I answer what is the biggest rock or let others (who are visitors to Australia) answer?

Hmmm, deciding . . .

I think I know the answer but can not remember the name. Ayres Rock is the largest rock above ground, for the largest rock in the world most of it is below the ground.

Does that still keep the mystery going :hehe: :hehe: :hehe:

:):):)

EDIT: Just had a look at your Ghan video, quite good, I hope you enjoyed your Aussie Trip, and yeah did you climb Ayres Rock or is that not allowed these days. I did and it was a long climb, coming down was easy. When I was there a Japanese tourist rode his push bike up and down the rock.

I suuppose it does, but is that a question, as their is no "?" at the end? :hehe: :hehe:

By the way, I can't see what's interesting about an "large stone", make that two "large stones"!

EDIT: Jimmyp4, I have just noticed something about your title: "My trip to Austrailia" May I ask where Austrailia is? :hehe:

That's how most of our news readers say it, so why not spell it that was as well... :p

Oh wait... They say Austraya! :p

Isn't there a rock in WA that's bigger??

ANSWER: The world's biggest rock is / Jimmyp4, what is Sydney Skyharbour INTL?

Seeseeme, it's Mount Augustus in Western Australia, named after the brother of the man who found the rock.

Oh and Jimmy, with your video taking off from "Sydney Skyharbour INTL", I think you mean (take your pick from either) "Sydney International Airport" or "Kingsford Smith Airport".

And Jimmy, with that video of Southern Cross (ex-Spencer Street) Station, what is this thing about she's telling you to go upstairs? Upstairs for what?

It makes me a tad bit upset that nit pickers like you patrol these posts instead of lending a comnpliment. No one needs your negative comments Denis.

Hang on. If someone mentions a place name, which isn't the proper name (in the case of the airport), your saying that people can't correct him on it whilst trying to work out where he is talking about?

As to the ayres rock thing, I can see he was trying to be informative there. Explaining that, despite what people say, not all information is 100% correct...

Jimmyp4: I see you got to experience a Connex X'Crap... Erm, I mean X'Trapolis... Too bad you didn't get a 'Hitachi'... Opening windows (maybe :p ), 3 chime horn... :p

I see you went out along the Ringwood line. May I ask how far you went?

ok, just typing from my older sisters laptop in san diego.

ok yes i misspelled austrailia and i might have had some of my facts messed up....

but oh well

red_rattler: well as it turns out, the way we where walking only went along VR tracks, you had to go upstairs and over the connex tracks to get to them.

S301: nope, belgrave line. had a blast

Yep these days it's "Austroadia"

But in calling Sydney International Airport, also known as Kingsford Smith Airport, and was also known as Mascot Airport, by another name, I wonder if you've given me an idea.

By the way, I'm not saying how the media has said about Sydney Airport, but what did you think about Sydney Airport?

Ohhh that all, I thought Connex (even though Southern Cross-Spencer St Station does not belong to them) was attempting to stop you filming.

By the way, how did you get away with filming a take off, especially from Sydney?

Sorry, yeah. Belgrave line goes through Ringwood (said Ringwood, as you might have been going to Lilydale for some odd reason)...

Anyways, if you went to Belgrave, then you went past my house (I live next to Tecoma station :D ).

I like it, its in great shape, has great architecture and many other things i like :)

just put the camera in the seat pocket in front of you and wait until you pull onto the runway (make shure NO flight attendants can see you) and start filming!

I remember that station well, BEUTIFUL scenery around there.

Hi JimmyP4,

As an ex-Darwin-ite (among other places) I'm enjoying your videos.
I started with the Ghann one. Looks nice. :)

I lived in the NT from mid 1981 to Oct 1987 & thoroughly enjoyed the country & the people of the outback 'Top End'.

Looking forward to viewing the others. thanks for sharing them

Hi JimmyP4,

So you were related to Charles Darwin? :hehe: (What, my jokes that bad? - on second thought don't answer that!)

Back to topic:

Me asked (oops, hides from grammar police!)

By the way, I'm not saying how the media has said about Sydney Airport, but what did you think about Sydney Airport?
Jimmyp4 said:

I asked that because our "media" (term used loosely, especially the Murdock press) atttempted to say that Sydney's main airport was the worst in the world - as they did with CityRail, which extends far beyond Sydney.

Did you go on Puffing Billy? If you went to Belgrave station, you would have seen that their are two Belgrave stations. The 2' 6" guage that actually extended further east to around Ferntree Gully.
