My Trainz account offline

I always thought trainz called home once a month, not that it would be unusable if the auran server was down.

I use 19 offline most of the month. Can't say anything about 22. But why would N3V change the authorization method? Is S2 only available online?
I'm house sitting currently and have been online more than usual.
