My Level Crossings-1

I recently downloaded 'UK Southern V2' from the DLS, but unfortunately there were many missing dependancies, which I tried to download separately.

I now have most of the dependancies, with the exception of the track, which I am attempting to replace, using the ballast as a guide as to where to lay the track. So far, so good (I think!).

The layout includes a number of level crossings, mostly the UK Half Barrier Level Crossings, which were successfuly downloaded as part of the original download of the layout.

But the Rule which makes the crossings work did not download.

I have since tried downloading the rule a number of times, but on each occasion the download was corrupted!

The Rule is called 'My Level Crossins-1' by Atilabarat.

If anyone can advise me,or help me to obtain a working copy of this rule, I would be extremely grateful.

Ian, I commend you on your efforts here. I would have given up long ago and have gone with Boat's ATLS system. Look for these on the DLS.

John

If the level crossings are the ones by Bloodnok, they don't need a seperate rule to make them work in the normal way. You may be able to get away without them.

Paul

If you really want 'My Level Crossins-1' by Atilabarat, it was updated and the new kuid is. It is on the DLS.

Come on guys!

Anyone got any suggestions? Please :D

Ian

Hi Ian.

I'm sure I recall reading a thread a few months ago regarding the crossings you mention. I know they aren't triggered by a rule but also that there is some script error which means they will only operate once (if you're lucky) before they will remain open when a train passes.

As they were probably the best UK crossings available, I was highly disappointed. I since discovered the ATLS system which is absolutely brilliant and you can set up all sorts of realistic looking and sounding UK crossings. Definitely check them out. The author is boat.

Cheers.

I have just tried to download Boat's ATLS System. The trigger downloaded OK, but the other 2 components each gave an error message - 'unable to find required username tag in package'.

Any suggestions please?

That seems familiar - I take it you downloaded these by FTP and are trying to install into TRS2004 ?

It seems the format used by the DLS has changed and these details are now stripped out so that you get this message when trying to install assets. Just ignore the message and press OK and they will install correctly.

I'm OK now!

It's OK now!

The reason that I could not find the other 2 downloads was that they were listed in Surveyor under Sen City, while the special trigger was listed under track objects!

Thank you very much to all who replied to my cries for help!

Good job. Hope you find ATLS as good as I do.

ATLS Crossing Problem

I now have all the necessary components of the ATLS system, including the tutorials!

However, even though I am following the tutorials with great care, I am still unable to have a working level crossing.
I was under the impression, which seems to be born out by the tutorials, that the system allowed any level crossing to be controlled.
I have tried 3 different crossings so far, but I cannot get any of them to work!

Please can someone recommend a particular crossing which is known to work with the ATLS system?

Hi Ian.

Hopefully I can help you out here. I'll do a list (minus the KUIDs I'm afraid as I'm using the select tool within my surveyor session) which make up the parts of one of my crossings.

Scenery objects (version 2 where available)
ATLS UK LC Lights-Sounder
ATLS UK AHB 5m
ATLS CONTROLLER
ATLS Slave (TF)
ATLS Traffic Stopper

Track object
ATLS Trigger

First and most important, when creating your crossing, don't put any consists within the boundaries of the triggers or it won't work.

Place the Lights-Sounder, AHB (or any of the other UK barriers) as desired around your crossing.

You will need a trigger on the track a suitable distance in advance of the crossing to enable the barriers time to close. You will need a second trigger after the crossing which will indicate the train is clear and raise the barriers again.

Place the ATLS controller anywhere nearby your crossing. These constitute the crossing itself. I'll come back to the traffic stopping element.

Click '?' on the ATLS Controller to open the dialogue box. Set your channel, then click on '-' beside Routes so Level Crossing Mode Selected shows directly below.

Click '?' on your approach ATLS Trigger. Set the channel to match the Controller channel then click the '-' below so 'Asset set to monitor trams on Route (SPL)' is displayed.

Click on the text beside 'Trigger set for' until it displays '1 OR 2 WAY RUNNING - BASIC'

Select the check marks so the trigger will respond to the desired train priorities, ideal if you want a seperate trigger for slow and fast moving trains. That's your approach trigger set.

The departure trigger is set up exactly the same just after the crossing gates.

All you need to do to the gates is set the correct channel and delay for the gates to lower.

The lights and sounder again, are set to the same channel and you can select various options which you will see make changes to the appearances of the lights.

That's the basics done!

To set up the traffic stopper, place a traffic stopper either side of the gates. Connect these with the road you intend to use, then continue the road away from the stoppers. You can't put a spline too close to these or it prevents traffic stopping unfortunately.

Connect the end of one traffic stopper to the end of an ATLS traffic slave. Connect the other stopper to the opposite end of the slave. Use invisible track to do this.

Click '?' on the slave and set the channel to match that of all the other ATLS assets. Click on the '-' on the next line so 'Asset set to control traffic on Route (LCM)' is displayed. Finally, set the delay you want before traffic will start to move again. Give it about 3 seconds so the barriers should be fully up.

There you go. It should work if you can work out my explanation but if not, let me know and I'll see what further assistance I can offer.

Cheers.
Innis.

Do you have Trainz 2006? if not the rule is made for trainz 2006 and that could be why you cant get it.

Hi Innis,
I couldn't find the UK LC Lights-Sounder on the DLS, so I'm using a different barrier, but I've hit a problem so basic that I'm embarrassed to ask for advice!

The problem is when connecting the track (both visible and invisible, I cannot get the track to engage with the crossing! I've tried all the tricks I know, but they still won't connect!

Any suggestions?

Ian

Hi Ian. Don't be embarassed to ask, I'm more than happy to help unlike some.

The KUID you need is 2:190624:700001:4. It's by adrian19 who has done all the UK barriers you could need. Full, half, skirted and un-skirted. I would suggest downloading the whole pack he's created and you'll have everything you need. Plug ATLS into the DLS search then look for ATLS UK SFB LH 8m on the list and click on View Pack beside this and download the lot. The Lights and Sounder are contained in the pack.

I haven't actually used a crossing proper. What I use is a rubber crossing from here http://trainzpedro.cz/ Click on Objekty then Trat'ové on the left hand side menu.
It's the 3rd item down the page KUIDs 77641:24294,24295,24293

Place this on a piece of track and build your crossing manually about it. There's no need to connect the track into anything else. See how you get on with it and let me know if you need more help. Damn, I just realised I've deleted the ATLS controller while checking up on things there. Ah well. Good enough reason to upgrade it to v2.5. Haha.

Here's a screenshot to give you a better idea of what I mean.

RE ATLS Crossings

Would any kind person be able to send me a small working demo of the ATLS system?

If it only had extremely short lengths of track attached, that would be OK as I could add more track myself.

I'm using TRS2004.
If anyone can help, just post a message here, and I'll send my email address.

Ian
