My latest route - Atlantic Longhaul Lines

Description

This is my trainz version of "Atlantic Longhaul Lines" which appears as layout N-16 in Atlas' "Nine N Scale Railroads". My late grandfather had once desired to build this route for himself, but illness prevented him from getting past much more then laying a small bit of the track.

In order to make the curves at least somewhat reasonable, it's been enlarged by a factor of 3. Making what was a 4' x 8' layout in N-scale, the equivelent of 12' x 24'.

Some of the names are his puns, some are mine - the basic story is that the town was founded by Lucius Q. Ball, which led of the town being named Ball, and the nearby promontory being named Ball Point. When the state later built a prison on the plateau above, it was named the Ball Point Pen.

Ahem...

Dedicated to the memory of my Grandfather, who once aspired to build this in N-gauge.

Great work, he would be proud. I remember that book, I may still have stashed away somewhere.

Awesome. This is just awesome, love the details and names of the industries....

Morning Lumber..... LOL!!!

I remember this layout from the book. You did a amazing job. Congrats. However, I have one question. Do you have plans to release it any time soon?

Thanks to all for the kind words.

I do plan to release it, but what you see now is somewhere between Alpha and Beta phase. Much of the detail is in, but there are things to be ironed out yet. And errors to correct.

Just today I spotted a location where one dark black X was juuuuuuuuuuuust peaking through the ground texturing.

And then there's finalizing the signal placement, and a few other details.

It will probably be another week or two yet.

Great to hear that you will be releasing it. No problem with the time frame, Because I know what it takes to create a route as I did a route in MSTS.

Tragically, the finished route was lost. As was my interest in TS12 some 3 years ago. I dug out a 70% complete backup I had made, and I posted it to the DLS - https://www.auran.com/DLS/DLS_downloadasset.php?DownloadID=435786 - I snagged T:ANE Deluxe for $17 during Steam's sale last July 4th and I'm now playing around with it. I will not be reinstalling TS12, so that upload is the best you can get.

I invite anyone with TS12 to go ahead and finish it off for TS12 if you like. I'll be re-completing / updating it to T:ANE.

I'm excited to see this route come to T:ANE, the old TS12 screens look great and I'm sure it will be much better in T:ANE!
