My last hope, I need to know how to save my downloads.

Okay, the sound issue on my game continues. I am now considering uninstalling then re-installing Trainz, but how do I save my downloads? I have downloaded so much over the past year and I do not want to lose it all.
Any suggestions?

I'm not sure whether a RW-DVD (4.7Gb) is what would hold all the stuff or not. someone here might know. I like the re-writable DVD because it's re-useable over and over again. Possibly a memory stick, like the 8 GB one, I bought for $15 ? Get some more input and advice before trying what I have suggested. I don't know alot about PC's and trainz program.

I assume you might know some of this, but just in case you don’t.
Go to the drive Trainz is in and find the folder “local” in TS200?, (TS 2006 or 09) this has all the stuff you have down loaded and all the TS2009 content. You will need to save this folder.
My folder for TS2009 shows 4.75 GB and to save to a disk requires 5.38 GB.
This is the part that bothers me and there may be no simple solution, BUT why can’t the content we download go into a separate folder so that when we do have to back-up or save DLed content we don’t we don’t save several GB of stuff already on the DVD?

Oh yes...I run TRS2006...it has run fine up until now...is it possible that a download could have contained something to mess up my sound?

jkinzel You dont save what is on the dvd as it is not in the local folder its contained in the .ja files

Move the local folder outside of the auran folder or get an external harddrive and save it to that.

this happened to me too, after a large download session. I don't know what caused it exactly, but it's happened.

Now the problem is backing up my assets and re-installing, but I'm worried that something I downloaded might bring the problem back.


Either way, I should do it soon. Got a few route ideas, now I just have to get it working.

Yeah, jadebullet you would backup the local folder. It contains everything that has been downloaded. Also, if you feel like it, another option could be to buy an external hard drive, I use mine just about all the time for backing up my local folder. Nothing bad has happened to me yet, but it is better to be safe than sorry.

stagecoach, So only what you download goes in the local folder. I was lead to believe that "all" the content was in the local folder. I stand corrected.

Here are the items I downloaded before I had the issue:
CSX 2bay cement hopper
Southern 2bay cement hopper
Golden West Service 4bay Grain hopper
CSX 4 bay grain hopper
CSX 4 bay exposed support grain hopper
Has anyone had trouble withy these? Is there spam or a bug in the above content?

Wish I could help IC, but after 30 plus years on tugboats, the last thing I want to hear is a diesel engine, so I keep the sound very low to off.

One thing you might try, if your CMP hasn't stuffed up, is to set your content filters to local, then add another filter which hides all built-in content.

From there, use CMP's built-in archiver to backup the files.

Also, if you haven't cleaned your cache, then CDPSave might prove useful as well. Don't remember the URL offhand (google it?) but it's a darned handy app.

I have a question though. What is your sound doing? The reason that I ask is because for some reason, when I would run TRS06 the hornsound would sometimes be real quiet one blast and then the normal volume the next. If so, I think that it might be a problem with your sound card, but I am not sure. I would suggest seeing if you have the latest drivers for your sound card.

MY main problem is in regards to the steam engine sounds. After downloading some stuff from the DLS (it was a batch leech, large one too), suddenly none of my in-cab sounds work (shoveling coal, fire door, cutoff lever - all I hear is a hissing noise, and not the type that come with corrupt card/drivers.

Currently using Nforce4 onboard audio, latest available stable drivers. DX9c, WinXP. Sounds literally stopped working correctly. I know about the whistle (and bell) volume bugs, and this is MUCH more annoying.

Jade, The sound problem is, when looking forward in the cab...no engine sound, but the horn & bell, sometimes the effects still work. When looking toward the conductors window...all sounds except the radio chatter on Nikos1 GP40 work. This occurs on every route on every engine...even the Auran engines which I have never messed with.
