My first major layout, CNO&TP Stage 1, Harriman to Soddy Daisy.

I think you have PM...

 Hello Woodrow,

I'll be back online next week & I'll set you up with a DEM to work with...

Update...

I have now begun construction on Spring City Tennessee beginning with the first & only city crossing. With that done, I have moved on to installing a small grain elevator [no its not the one in City&Country] for which will be used rarely be a local or two. The houses will go up next and then I will continue working on installing lineside brush. Yes, I'm going all out, I will have complete overgrowth along the entire line, at least in the country. After spring City is where double track resumes and I will be making this right after the 68 crossing. The line is really a siding which, nowadays ends on the abondoned branch line. The branch will probably get done long before I push the tracks toward Soddy Daisy. This will give me the chance to operate on the line a little before it is actually complete. I will be downloadiing content from the DLS, mainly Southern frieght cars. Locomotives really aren't a problem given how the F units have the Auto-number on them. I actually thought long and hard about what era I would attempt to model, I chose 1967-1974 because it gives me a little room for mistake. Plus as many people feel, the Southern was truly a great railroad.

Why not finish the route down into Chattanooga to DeButts yard? Because really there's nowhere good to stop here in Soddy.

The yard is name after a former president of the Southern Railway, Mr. Harry A. DeButts. That is truly his name.

Hello SR6900, I do intend to take it into Chattanooga. That will be in Stage to, "CNO&TP, Soddy Daisy to Chattanooga" I will have to make a couple of trips up and down US 27 and in Chattanooga in order to make a detailed route. I'm gonna try to make a detailed version of Chattanooga, but that will be very hard. This is a while down the tracks. If you have any photo's of DeButt's send a PM to me, I'd appreciate it!

Update...
I have decided to make the line that links the Southern with the quarry and cement plant in Crab Orchard a part of this route. Furthermore this will add a lot of new operation to my route. There is a tunnel on this line also. I believe it was once a part of Tennessee Central, now I don't know if TC was still around in '67 so I'll look, if it wasn't I might back date the route a little. If I can, I'll be running RS-3's on it hauling concrete to the Southern Interchange.

Tennessee Route

Newbie here, found this post very interesting. I just purchased and downloaded Trainz 2009 yesterday and so far love it. Your post regarding picked my curiosity when I saw Hwy 68 as we have a cabin in North Georgia and travel to Copperhill Tennessee almost ervy weekend. This town has 2 tourist railroads that empty into it, one from Etowah Tenneassee and the other from Blue Ridge Georgia. The Etowah route is very interesting as it has a 180 degree loop around a Bald Mountain. I would love to recreate this in Trainz, but got to work on the basics first..:D

Oh, yes. The Tennessee Valley Railroad runs the Hiwaussee River Rail Adventure into Copperhill. Highway 68 is the most scenic part of my route. Thanks for taking interest in my thread. If you want to know more just PM me.

Update...

The siding south of Spring City is complete. Now I am working on the branch line. This is where any pictures or help is greatly appreciated! I also need good freeware Southern passenger stuff, also I need to know what passenger trains ran on this line. I am primarly looking for a good E-8 or 9 and streamlined passenger cars. Frieght equipment for Southern is also needed, if you know of any of these please Private Message me. Thank You.

Blue Ridge Scenic runs up the loop from the south also.

What I was saying earlier is, why not just include Chattanooga in the whole route it's only a few miles more.

SR6900, I'm going to include Chattanooga in the route, but that will be a long time from now. That is in another stage, in fact as I said earlier, I want to make several conncting lines and I'm probably going to go as far north as Somerset Kentucky. There is an awesome bridge at Somerset.

Progress report...

 Woody, I have made a DEM with topo map overlaid from DeButts to Oakdale & included the Franklin Industrial Minerals line from Crab Orchard & the Kingston Steam Plant(pre-mudslide).

Have you decided what kuid track your going to use for mainline, sidings, yards & branch lines? I can lay the mainline & branchlines, you can finish & signal the line then I'll edit...I have the trackcharts for the Central Division.

backyard, you'll have to explain this in a PM, I'm not sure of all the details of this. If this speeds progress up, I'd like it very much, as long as it looks good. I'm sure you wouldn't post if it didn't. We'll talk further about this, Private Message me soon. We will need to go over all the details too. I still want to work on this, and yes the Franklin Minerals Line is crucial to my layout. Was it Tennessee Central at one time? Well, I'll PM you tomorrow or Friday. Thanks Much, Woody.

Oh, and backyard I'm using the MP Standard Track Wood from TRS06. I do not have TS09 so I can't use stuff from that game, all crossing that have lights are bnsf50 crossings.

Just what I needed to know...

 I forgot to ask which version your using...TRS2006 with SP!?

I have to break the route into several sections, I get DSL back tomorrow & I'm using NetZero High Speed temporarily...You get exactly what the name implies...

Since the CSX runs almost to Harriman as the old L&N line & uses trackage rights in agreement with NS(they share lines with NS elswhere), I will include some of that southwest of Knoxville, TN.

You can't really use the Topo map on the baseboard however you can see it well using Mini-Map in Surveyor.

As I say, I'll have Broadband back by noon Friday, so I'll work on a CDP file in TRS2006.

Using default track & signal is a good idea, we'll see how it goes...I use NS37's Safetrain signals for my routes.

You know I mentioned that I'm working on the Chattanooga to Atlanta Norfolk Southern North Atlanta District, that will take trains off the CNO&TP route...

If you have the Demo version of Train Dispatcher 3 you can get both the Chatt-Atl & Danville-Oakdale routes as freeware. Plus other routes availible here

Happy Trainzing!

Okay, I'm downloading dispatcher 3 right now, what will this do? Am I going to have to commit it in CMP? How are we supposed to exchange routes, you said that you would work on part and then I finish, how do we transfer?

Dumb me, that was a free add on, I don't have $45.00! BTW, I do not have Service Pack, just TRS06. I also hate the default track in 06, but if I have to, I'll change it, tell me before the tracks go any farther.
