My desktop xps 435 is getting loud!!

My computer just started to make noises from the fans I guess, the computer runs fine but it's starting to sound like an old Alco.
The fans start to run fast like the computer is hot or working hard. I thought it may have been dirty inside so I cleaned it out of any dust that was inside as I do many times a year. I found that it was not really dirty at all, but cleaned it out anyway. Could this be a sign that I have too much custom assetts in the hard drive or maybe some other reason?? I may have to put on earplugs:(

Thanks,
Bob

If its a fan that is loud it could be that the bearings in it are failing. It is relatively cheap and easy to change a noisy fan and will save any damage that may be caused if it goes completely and your computer overheats !

On some newer computers you can adjust fan speeds in the BIOS. If I set mine to Extreme it sounds like a jet engine - have you tried checking that? Also is it only one fan or all of them?

Here is what happens. When I'm running trainz for a while the fans start to speed up like the computer is working hard so it needs to cool down. I don't know what fan is doing it because I have about four fans in the desktop. I would have to open it up and look to see which one is running. I'm going to do that and see what is going on.It may be because I have so many trainz editions in my computer although two of them are on an external drive.
Maybe I should buy another internal Hard drive and load 2012 into that before my original drive dies.

Thanks to all of you guys for your time. And ideas.

Better still a USB flash drive AND a DVD. Better safe than sorry.

The Dell's XPS 43x series, like their Optiplex GX6xx, and D7xx machines all have fan issues. Contact Dell about replacement parts if your machine is still under warranty. If not visit your local computer store. I believe these are standard parts anyway (for a change), and are easily replaced.

It's always a good idea to backup data no matter what. Don't use an impending crisis as a reason for backups because the crisis can, and usually with Murphy's help, either ruin your backup or prevent it from being successful.

Thanks to all of you guys for your advice. This is a great forum with some very smart people.
I would like to burn 2012 to a dvd but I noticed that the blank dvd only holds about 4.7 gig's and my new trs 2012 folder is already about 16 gig's.
I'm not sure if the computer will let me download to several dvd's. Don't forgetI'm an old timer brought up using a number 2 pencil:)
My machine is about three years old now and I'm thinking about getting a new one next year. Although this one runs trainz so well I really don't need a new one.
It runs Marias Pass X at about 70 fps average. Not much slows it down.
I will have to find out if I have a disk failure can I download 2012 again from auran. I did not have enough patience to wait for a disk purchase which may have been a big mistake. I'm not worried about custom assetts because I have 2010 and 2006 in my external hard drive and can find all the custom content there that I can use.

Thanks again all of you.

You can download it as many times as you need to, my 2012 is in the mail, a boxed copy for me every time.
How about making a new folder in your external drive and put a new download there. Should be feasable.
I hope the pencil is hd, they last longer.
You'll have a lot of people jealous of your comp if it does sound like an Alco, as long as it doesn't smoke like one.
