Murchison II

Lookin for some input. Do you like this better as a standalone or a route in 2010/2012. Does it make any difference other than not being able to edit in Surveyor as a standalone.

It should run better in TS12, as the version of Driver that comes with it is a barebones version of TS09. You'll be able to take advantage of the improved draw distance and performance optimizations of TS12.

Thanks. Sounds like a good idea. Now that I've had a chance to look it over I think I might want to be able to edit also. Not a big fan of steam and there is way too much steam power.

I currently have TS2009, TS2010, and TS12 on my machine. I have just downloaded Murchison 2 and wish to install it on top of TS 12.

Unfortunately, the installer keeps trying to install it on top of TS2009.

Does anyone have suggest a way of forcing the installation on top of TS12?

Thanks,

Wes

Hi Wes,

The Murchison II that you d/l is a bare bones version of this magnificent layout with many features and textures missing. For the full experience it is worth purchasing the full complete TS 12 version from the Auran store.

Hi, Art,

I thought I downloaded the full version of Murchison 2; I paid $AUD25 for it. I purchased it from the Auran Store.

Is this $AUD25 the bare bones version? I just saw from the web page that it worked with TS2009, TS2010, & TS12.

Thanks,

Wes

Wes,

When you start the installer, you should have an option to choose which version of Trainz to install it into. Choose the location for your TS12, even if the display say TRS2009. The program will work fine.

Unfortunately, the Murchison 2 installer doesn't give me the option of which version of Trainz I want to install the Murchison 2 over. (Itried it several times.)

Since I have TS2009, TS 2010, and TS 12 installed on my machine and Murchison 2 chose to pick TS2009, I (being "smart"???? - decided to uninstall TS2009 (since I don't use it) and then try reinstalling Murchison 2. I expected it to try to install it on top of TS2010, but it - again - tried to install it on TS2009, and told me I had a "old" build of TS2009 and that I had to update it before it could install Murchison 2.

I cannot believe I'm the only one with multiple version of Trainz installed on my PC and wanting to install Murchison 2 on top of TS 12.

I'd appreciate suggestions from others in these forums who have overcome this issue.

Thanks,

Wes

Try this, Install Murchison as a stand alone program in it's own directory. After installation navigate to the directory you installed it in i.e. drive:\murchison\buitin, Copy the murchison.ja file to your desktop. Then navigate to drive:\auran\TS12\builtin and copy the murchison.ja file from your desktop to your TS12 builtin folder.
Next, open the TS12 CMP and do an extended database repair. You can then uninstall the Murchison stand alone program if you want to.

I got Murchison into TS12 by first installing into 2009 (which I had to re-install, and apply patches, as I hadn't used for some time and was not on my latest computer) and then copied over to 12, as Bill69 suggests.

When you have copied the .ja files over as Bill69 suggests, start TS2012 and go to; Options. Important; Enter your Murchison 2 serial number where it says CD Key, then click on Add. Otherwise you won't be able to run M2...

Cheers, Mac...

Thanks Bill69 and Mac for your assistance.

Without your help I would never have gotten Murchison 2 working in TS 12.

To summarize:

1. I reloaded TS2009 and applied the patches - and then ran an extended DB repair.
2. I then loaded Murchison 2 over TS2009.
3. I copied the file: murchison.ja in my C:\Program Files\Auran\TS2009\Builtin folder into my c:\Program Files\N3V Games\TS12\Builtin folder
4. I then invoked TS12 Content Manager and did an extended DB repair.
5. I then invoked TS12, selected Options, and added the Murchison 2 serial number where it said CD Key.
6. I then invoked TS12 and found the Murchison routes in the route list and am now able to drive Murchison routes and able to bring the Murchison routes up in Surveyor.

Hi Wes,

Glad you got things working, however it is possible you might have trouble later depending on how many programs you have in your C:\programs directory. It is usually better to install Trainz in it's own directory and even on a separate drive, example:- drive:\Auran\*

Cheers,
Bill

Installing add on pack to TS12

By reinstalling TS12, the primary install location is shifted back to the TS12 directory. I been able to use TS10, Canvon City and TS08 as add ons to TS12.
