Multiple-PC Installation Policy?

I hope this is not a 'stupid' question, but a reasonable amount of searching has not turned up an answer - although as a new user I am sure that I do not yet know all the 'right' places to look for my answers.

My question is: What is the policy regarding installing the same copy of e.g. Trainz 12 on more than one PC, as long as the computers involved cannot be used at the same time? I have a PC at my office that I would consider my 'primary Trainz machine'; and also a PC at home that, while less powerful, does run the software well enough for casual use in the evenings.

I do not want to violate the rules... if I missed this in a EULA or some other post then I would appreciate a pointer in the right direction.

Only thing I can say is most likely no due to the fact of people getting the game from illegal websites. Unless you bring your hard drive to the office everyday or use your pc in the office your not going to be able to.

My understanding its per user so multiple machines aren't a problem. I have it on two.

To the best of my knowledge, N3V has no problem with this practice. Some distributors like Just Trains in England seem to require the DVD be in the drive while playing and Steam only allows one connection at a time but if you got TS12 direct from N3V or your box has N3V Games on the cover you should be OK.

As a side note, Multiplayer mode allows only one computer to use a username once in a MP session. So you can't have two computers in the house using the same username and try to enter a MP session from both machines.

What is your company's policy regarding non-compliant software on their hardware, and what policy do they have regarding using their hardware for non-work use? This latter question/policy is usually referred to as customary work use versus personal use.

I only asking this because I don't want you to end up at home using Trainz full-time and be out of a job because you were Trainzing too much in the office!

This is not correct.

I have the Just Trainz versions of 2009 and 2010 and they do not require the DVD to be in the drive whilst playing. This may have been required in earlier versions of Trainz, and I cannot comment on the version from Steam, but the Just Trainz versions only need the DVD to initially install, and they are the full unlimited N3V authorised versions.

Not to worry. Yes, I do have a full-time day job and you are right, there is no room for Trainz in that scenario. However I also have my own part-time business as a software contractor, and I have my own office where I do that work; that is where my super-duty bought-mostly-for-Trainz PC is located. This office is many miles from home, thus my question about having a second copy loaded on another PC.
