I'm confused, why are you removing zcompatability mode for all routes?? I'd understand PO&N and Harbor Master, but why everything else??

Jamie

In TS2010, they've removed a couple of features when Multiplayer is installed, I'd like to know why they dropped compatability mode, as Compat. Mode allowed you to use older assets

Possibly because you won't need it in future once the DLS is fixed.

Probably something to do with compat. mode slowing everyone else down.

Compatibility mode consumes more CPU cycles and generally runs at a lower framerate.

Compat. mode should not slow everyone else down :o Its a local option that will only be noticeable in slow FPS, not slowing down internet speed....

This is just another no sense feature by Auran. Keep the "good work" fellas, soon we will have a game that will not even allow to install 3rd party content....

Thumbs up

Making a backup now and got the Beta Downloaded.

I am hesitant to install due to removal of Compatibility Mode Removal, not due till TS2011. Trundra Vegetation requires it and is the most popular tree / shrub vegetation used by creators.

Sorry, but that isn't true. The slower your machine is running then the slower it will update its information to the server. It has nothing to do with Internet speed. Try it and see what I mean.

Come on, think about it. To have multi player everyone has to be on the same playing field. You all need the same assets and you all need to be in the same mode to make it run smooth. By only having one mode and the program updating your assets it is then guaranteed that everyone is playing on the level field.

Yes, but trainz isn't only about multiplayer. I can understand making it so that Multiplayer has to be Native mode, but not making the entire game native only. That is just dumb.

They always said compatibility mode was a temporary feature to allow older problem content to be used. They must feel that after two versions of Trainz with compatibility mode, people have had enough time to update their content to the new standards.

Nope, I get the same internet speed when I am running an EDR that I do when I don't have anything open.

Let me be more precise. When running in multiplayer mode, besides all the other processing requirements needed by Trainz while in Driver, you have the added load of transmitting information about what you are doing (driving a train) to the server. You are also receiving data and updating the locations of other trains being driven by the other players. It is not how fast that data is sent and received but how fast Driver can deal with it. If Driver has trouble running smoothly and without a jerky display when not in MP mode then this added load will affect play in multiplayer. Compatibility mode adds a lot of overhead to Driver and on most users' computer will show less performance than native mode.
