I have heard that there is a program that can convert MSTS .s(shape) files into Trainz (i think its PM or something) shape files. I think its something like MSTS Exporter. I dont know, but if anybody knows please reply.

Never heard of it. Since I haven't heard of such a program, I would have to speculate that if one existed, it may well be some type of illegal hacking software.
Shape files are called meshes usually, Trainz has 2 types, PM are the older type, the modern one is IM.
Normally to get something from MSTS into TRS you have to ask permission of the MSTS mesh creator and then there's work involved retexturing and I think some other stuff like adding any attachment points needed so you need to modify the mesh in a 3D modeling program.

Try getting hold of Fender849 He may be able to help you. Refer to this post; http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=27427&page=4

Router builder: Location: New Zealand

Hi Mac, I have already built all that route in MSTS and don't feel like doing it again in Trainz - the route building is on hold for an indefinite period. However, aside from playing in FSX, I have been learning the ropes of 3D Canvas Pro.
This NZR Vulcan railcar was origionally made for MSTS by Barry Munroe a.k.a. "Captain Bazza" from his busy workshops. Barry has kindly allowed me to convert it for use in Trainz 2006.
It is now available from Trainzones new N.Z.R page;

Check it out and see what you think.
Cheers, Trev. :)

That is correct. 3D Canvas Pro can and does. I have converted my MSTS content into Trainz '04 and have put it on the DLS for everybody to enjoy.
The price is very reasonable at $70 and will be used for the new MSTS2, also.
The new converters have been written and are in beta now.
With 3DC, you will be able to build content for all Trainz and MSTS games.
I know all this because I am doing it as we speak.
Let me clarify something here. The .s and .im game files are not accessible to anyone legally and shouldn't be fooled with. The export and import FROM/TO a 3D application creates these game files so, if you have the source files then, yes, conversations are possible.

I've got a freeware program called ShapeConverter that will port the .s files to .3ds--TGATool(google it) will convert .ace files to .tga. It's possible, but beyond my meager skills.

The above program , if used properly, is legal IIRC. Since the format for the mesh files has been made public IIRC. There are plenty of programs that already edit the MSTS shape files anyway. However, as it allows you to convert an exported .s file, it is a very 'grey area' type program. If someone were to use it irresponcibly, it would lead to a lot of trouble. But, used responcibly, it is a very useful program. I myself have converted a number of items WITH PERMISSION. None released yet, but they did work...

And that is the main thing. Get permission before you do ANYTHING.

Where can Shape Converter be found? I've already recieved permission from one modeller to convert his model to Trainz, but I can't find Shape Converter anywhere.

Wow! that's a big bump you just did, almost 2 years

After a quick search, I can't find anything as Im guessing it will be near impossible to find. 3D Canvas Pro can do the same job (apparently)

Phil

People don't seem to try very hard these days...

#1 Google result:

Guys, please do not post the link for this program, we do wish to help protect the rights for content creators, both for Trainz and others.

PS. Can we stop with the thread necro-ing, it's getting annoying.
