Moving locomotives and rolling stock from TS2009 to TS2010?

A recent attempted installation of TS2010 was incomplete - missing assets too numerous to list. An attempt to uninstall was "blocked" by a file(s) from TS2009 ( I had run TS2009 for years but glitches of one kind and another had accumulated). I'm inclined to abandon ie uninstall my TS2009 and start afresh with the installing of TS2010.
Before uninstalling my current TS2009 can I save my favourite locomotives and rolling stock in some location and then subsequently transfer them to my (successfully I hope) installed TS2010?
I will be grateful to receive suggestions but, as I am an IT simpleton, any advice would really have to be as clear step-by-step instructions in order to be useful to me.

The way I'd do it is, if you can get onto Trainz, start a fresh baseboard and lay a load of track and put your favourite locomotives on there. Save it as something like 'favourite locomotives'. Go into your CMP, find the route you just saved, check the dependencies, and all the locomotives/rolling stock on there, select them by pressing Ctrl+ left clicking on all of them. Right click, save to CDP, save it as "My favourite locomotives", something you'll remember. Then when you get the game reinstalled, go into your CMP and import CDP, then click that file and voila :)

I have both a 2009 and a 2012 installation. If I need something copied from my 2009 installation to my 2012, I run 2009 CMP, find the assets I want to copy, then convert them to a cdp file. Exit from 2009 run the 2012 CMP and import the cdp file I just created. Then repair assets as necessary.
