Movie making problems....

Hi everyone,

I am going to appeal to those of you out there more smarter than myself when it comes to some technical issues I am having with Windows Movie Maker.

I have made a movie that of course want to share with our community members by using Windows Movie Maker which requires that I "Publish" it to finish it. When I do so, it proceeds along nicely for about the first third of the movie then goes 'black'.....meaning that the image is not longer seen but the music is playing in the background. When I go back to the "time line" or "story board" everything is fine when I play it back. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium and have not had any real problems with it. I have even checked on-line for solutions but have not found anyone with a problem like mine. My drivers are up to date (as far as I can tell) so as you can see.....I am confused and a little frustrated.

Any ideas out there???

To be honest I have no idea...I doubt you'd have to run WMM as an Admin...I bet you're using the free version of fraps? The part that does play, is there anything about it different from the other two thirds that won't play? Perhaps it's a problem with either the scene right before/after it goes black...

Just some random ideas.

I am familiar with the product although I only used it once or twice. Maybe you should try deleting some temporary files and try running the program again. Sometimes if there's a glitch, the program will load up the old temporary files they created prior to glitching.

As a result, your output is wrong. So having said this, try running the Disk Clean up utility and choose it to delete the files from all users. This will ensure that it catches the temp files from your program and when you run the WMM again, it will pick up the "new" data and build the movie from scratch.

Good luck and let us know how you make out with this.

WMM has never been known as a good editor. Being a Windows freebie, it does certain jobs but that's about all. You could try TrakAx http://www.trakax.com/ it's a very powerful FREE video and music editor. I haven't used it yet but I'm looking forward to doing so as soon as I start making videos again.
