Moveable lift bridge

Hi Linda:

The problem is the naming convention in Gmax that allows the real track to rotate on a turntable or follow on a transfer table does not seem to apply (will work) on anything other then kind turntable. Believe me I've tried. It just sits there fat, dumb, and unmoving while everything gleefully flies all over the place, lol.

I have Scherzer 107 converted to a turntable. I can get the moveable span to go up and down via manual control (the arrows). However I have yet to get a train to cross in the closed position without derailing and its not like I haven't made a goodly number of turntables in the past. This has 2 tracks and I'm starting to wonder if there isn't a limit in the Trainz code itself of 1 track on the spinner or transfer table.

Anyone know if this limit is real?

It's possible for a turntable to have more than 1 track (at least 2). Wuppertaler56 has an example of a 2 track turntable for his Wuppertaler Schwebebahn.

Hi Ben,

That sounds frustrating. I must admit, I never tried making a KIND turntable with only lead track in and out, so can't tell if there is a limitation there or not. I would assume there is not such a limitation as it would be plain stupid by Trainz programmers as there are turntables where there was only a track in to turn the table and same track out again - for instance a turntable in the San Juan Region in Colorado a hundred years ago at the end of a switchback...

I had though KIND Buildable would work, but I take your words for it. :) Never tried it, but as the requester want a KIND Turntable, maybe not so bad. :)

One way to to maybe get around the problem if there indeed is such a stupid limit of not working with a 1 track setup in KIND Turntable is to use invisible track on a second set of stubs, that way at least it should bypass such a limitations, if there are some.

Hi Peter:

In that case its back to the drawing board for me, lol. Thanks for the info.

Hi Linda:

I've made turntables with only one in/out track. Strictly used for turning a loco at the end of a short line (pun intended, lol). Apparently its not the number of tracks.

Dale and I are both working on this. His version doesn't derail but won't open and close. Mine opens and closes but derails. Aren't we the a pair, lol.

Scherzer Rolling Lift 110 has been uploaded. TRS2004 version to the TPR site. TS2009 version (which is TS2012/SP1/HF3 compatible) to the DLS. This is the same as 107 but re-configured as a turntable per your (original) request.

Enjoy.
