More new assets I've imported

Great work, now all we need is for the DLS to work :hehe:

You may actually run into trouble with the uploads if Auran are still working on the DLS Servers, so I would not worry to much if you see a upload problem. If you get a "rejection" type email back then that will be something to look at.

I've been putting stuff up all day items I put up this morning are on the DLS now.

Cheerio John

Oh, thats good news then. Thanks John. I still haven't put anything up yet. Haven't had the chance but I will soon.

I put it on the Coast Guard content post also but here it is again. USCG Jayhawk.

USS Forrester Navy Aircraft Carrier

I have been so busy messing around with models and trying to slowly learn Gmax and Blender that I still haven't uploaded anything yet so if anyone needs any of the models I've imported let me know and I can email them. There is no licensing restrictions on any of the ones I've imported so its not a problem.

Prowler elerctronic warfare planes. There's usually at least one assigned to every U.S. aircraft carrier.

Military Hovercraft

"Very interesting" is right :)

The way those things make great sweeping turns, they would have to skew part-sideways on their "track" to look realistic. Does Trainz allow this? I've encountered a little Dresina repair/maintenance car which slews back and forth a bit as it's moving - almost enough to make me reach for the Dramamine  Maybe this same effect could somehow make hovercraft turns more realistic?

WOW NAmenta, you have been very busy. I do hope your right about the copyright rules, but great work anyway.

On some of your models I wonder if some of the colors are a bit bright.

Rescue boat; the Blue hoist thing is a bit bright and the overall color of the boat ..... it looks to "new".

USS Fitzgerald Destroyer; the front gun turret is white, should that be grey? There are other white spots that may be should be grey on the main Bridge structure and other structure parts, not the radar thingo.

USS Forrester; the numbers, the white lines and yellow/white lines on the deck and the red and yellow lines on the aircraft hoist are a bit bright. The guns on the side and some other parts look "whitish" should they be a grey type color but may be not the same grey as the Carrier. Otherwise the best Aircraft Carrier for Trainz I have seen, a great find and work to get it to Trainz standards, congratulations.

The Aircraft all look great and another excellent addition to our Naval Fleet :hehe:. I like the Spy Plane in the background to, I think they are called U2 Spy Planes or something.

Have you heard from Curtis about the other Planes yet ?

Congratulations on all your work though, some very good ideas and finds.

NAmenta.
Thanks for this great collection. Appreciate your efforts.
The water texture looks particularly good in the pictures above - haven't seen it before. Could you please let me have its details.
Thanks
Cheers

Nicke, the water is called "Water04" by jjslll54.

Yes Craig you are right about some of the colors being too bright but the ships didn't come with any texture files for me to edit the models came colored and I just imported them as is. I don't know much about UV mapping at all. I can do the basic drag and drop texturing in GMAX when the textures are already mapped and Blender I don't know how to apply more than one texture yet. As far as the white guns and ship parts they somehow lost color when they were imported I believe. Oh, the spy plane is an SR-71 Blackbird which I got off the DLS a while back. The name of the asset is just called "Blackbird" I think.

As far as licensing agreements, The vast majority of the models I have been messing around with allow for redistribution as long as theres no profiting, and "adapting" as a lot lot of the agreements call it. Obviously with tribute to the creator. I haven't really found too many that don't allow this to tell you the truth but there is a couple that I've found that have no mention of anything and no sort of license agreement so I would assume that if they don't include a license agreement or state any kind of restrictions that you are free to do what you want with them. What do you think?

Oh yeah, Curtis has finished the B-52 Bomber and I have the file. He said he's going to upload all his stuff on the DLS all at once.

I know absolutely nothing about GMax or Blender or mapping or anything like that so you are doing a far better job then me. If that is how the items come and there is nothing you can do about the colors then we will have to live with that and I can. Some like the carrier are far better then what we already have anyway.

I just found the Blackbird and it looks great, but I am still having trouble downloading using FTP. I was just in 2009 and could download using that so may be Auran are still doing something, but it is in my list anyway. Oh and I love the B-52 from Curtis it looks great.

As far as the licence is, if there is no mention of any licence then it may be the same as I read on our forum here. Some mentioned that even if there is no licence then this does not mean it is not protected by a licence or copyright agreement. At the least for those that do not include a licence comment then give credit to the original creator. Have a read of this thread and see what you think, there are some very valid opinions in this thread.

You have a PM too.

Yeah I read that. It's gonna be such a let down if I don't get ahold of Gino1957 but as far as the3d models with no license, why would anyone have them on the web for free download unless they were meant to be used by people and imported into games, seeing as they are not game specific what else would you do with them? Just my thoughts on it. So here's an Air Force base control tower, etc. Images taken with Google Earth at the Ramstein US Air Force base in Germany then imported to Google Sketchup and then into Blender. I see me doing a lot of buildings in the future seeing how simple that makes things. And the textures are real imagry!

1 out of 4 Military barracks models I have. Same basic principle but this one was touched up so it doesn't look as real but still looks great to me!

That's a very good point about the no licence thing, I would still add a credit though where you can.

You are really doing some great work here. The only part of the process I actually understand though is getting the image from Google Earth. For the rest of it I have no idea :hehe: :hehe:

Thanks! I'm scouring the U.S. for building textures right now lol. I definitely plan on giving credit to the authors of all the models but to tell you the truth there is even a couple that had no names of the authors so I'll have to try to do some digging.

I was dong some work on 'my' C-130 today, and noticed it didn't have any cockpit windows :D. So, that one will take a bit more work to get it up to par.....
I apologize for the delay :(

BTW - feel free to release any reskins of 'my' stuff; you don't need to wait for me to release the original. Just make sure to give credit to the EoD team.

Thanks!
Curtis
