Just wondering, do the avatar's have to be locos, could we upload a personal symbol or something similar, then each member could design their own, so each one of us could be identified by the avatar.

This is the avatar I use on other web sites.

Well, I think you post it here and then submit it to Auran's Helpdesk. And they'll snatch it off the forum post, if it meets their approval. Could take a day -- could take weeks.

I would love to make an Avatar out of this image, but everytime I shrink it down to the size necessary, it blurs out so much it's unuseable. How do you shrink it down to get the necessary image?

Also, are alpha channels necessary?

Do 'sharpen' first, before shrinking. And do another 'sharpen' after shrinking. You may need to go halfway first -- do a clean-up/fix-up pixel by pixel. It's up to you.
