Modelling Guide - stations, crossings, etc...

Is there a good modelling guide that explains how to correctly build and install things like stations, scenery, crossings, etc?

A lot of what I've seen is all loco related, but I wanted to try and build - alongside a custom DMU - some extra items for a custom map.

I remember way back I did manage to make a very basic platform, but I can't remember how I did it. I also found way back, a site with sample files for Gmax/Trainz Asset Creation Studio which had various templates for creating objects.

what are the correct attachment point names for fixing track to something like a railway bridge or a station etc?
