Missing lever....

I have a 'missing lever' report and by trial and error have found the junction at fault.
I cannot for the life of me find instructions of how to add a lever to a junction, with no mention of levers in Surveyor.
Could someone enlighten me please?

2010ee ECML Thorne Junction.

In surveyor, select the track icon. In the track section, select the trackside button (center button). In the list of items, find and select the Switch Lever. Move to your junction with the missing lever and click on the junction. Your switch lever should now appear. Hope this helps.

Thanks for replying.
Switch Lever does not appear in the list, is this somethng I will have to download?

Look for lever

Hello,
Maybe this may help you find a lever. In the top bar, where the names of the objects appear, type in "Lever" or "Harp". You should then find a lever. Find the lever that you want, and click on it. To put the lever to a junction, just click on the junction and the lever will appear.
Hope this helps,
Toren

Easy way is go to track tab and click trackside button (middle) click on the grab icon bottom left and click on an existing lever in the route. Click the add icon and click on the track where you want the lever. If the new lever shows both arrows as red then look around for a misplaced lever which may also have two red arrows. Some times adding a spline point moves trackside objects out of place.

re lever

Thanks for the help all.
I used 'tside point motor qr' plus lever. But will note the grab method from now on.
I also found using a driverless loco to test is useless as it does not respond to 'driver via' etc. :(
Learning quickly, I hope.

Missing Lever

I am fairly new to Trainz, and I see that this thread is quite old. I keep getting this message, despite a lever being visable and being able to 'move it. I have also deleted the junction and replaced it with a new one. I now get a missing lever message for the new junction too. clearly I am missing something. If anybody is still watching this, could you give me some advise please.

Welcome to the forums and to Trainz (T:ANE). Missing levers are something which appear from time to time either with actual missing levers, or if the lever is not placed where it should be.

What you need to do is exactly what you did in some cases, while in others simply moving the lever closer to the middle of the spline point ensures the lever is in place. Usually if a lever is off kilter, it will show only red arrows instead of red and green arrows. There are cases too where clicking around will sometimes cause switch levers to disappear. In cases like that, you need to add in the switch lever again.

When you've fixed your switch, I recommend testing it by placing a consist on the tracks and dragging it along towards the junction. If the switch is set for the tracks to point left, and your train swings to the right, check that the points are not curved or twisted. This happens with spline tracks as the points may twist a bit. Sometimes placing a spline point before the switch points and then straightening the track spline in between the spline point and the points, will help with those situations. In others, however, the only solution is to rebuild the switch.

I find that placing a signal before the switch and then placing a locomotive, all while in Surveyor, will help with switches as well. If your signal changes aspects, with the locomotive at the signal, then the switch is working. If it does not, you need to fiddle with it a bit more.

Go basic here: On an empty space, lay one straight piece of track. You'll see the two ends with the spline circles. Now lay a piece diverging from anywhere in the middle of the first piece. A new spline circle should be created where they intersect. Depending on how the game was set, a default lever should be visible, and should have the green and red arrows. If not, just select any lever from the menu. All should be operational. Now you must have established that the system works as intended.

If you have problems doing all this in your route, check that other near-by levers are not interfering with the one you want to establish. Put names or numbers on each one for easy identification. Delete the ones you may think interfere and test. Is part of the game.. A side note, some levers have a radius of interaction bigger or smaller than others. I am not talking of the radius you can change (Used to be default at 20). I am talking about a "shadow" radius where if placed closely, one overlap the other and if you try to move one, you move the other! Always do things from a vertical view at close range of your viewer, for more accuracy. Play with it and you'll be an expert.

Missing Lever

Well thank you both for your quick replies. It seems that it's not just the case of laying out a track and that's the end of it. I'll certainly give your advice a go. :)
