Minimum trigger radius and side effects

Hi guys,

I suppose many others have had this frustration before: while switching, one often has to back unrealistically far away from the switch in order to throw it. This is caused by the excessive default trigger radius. Therefore I'd like to go over my entire route and set all the switches to a trigger radius of 1. While I'm at it I think I'll also put this setting for ATLS triggers, session triggers, direction marks and track marks. I'd like to ask if this is advisable and if not, what would be a wise minumum setting? After all, Auran must've set the default to 20 for some reason.

Cheerio,
Nicholas

I set all my yard switches to 1m from the default 20m. This really helped with switching cars on my Gloucester route. The only issue I ran into was flipping the lever too soon as the train left the switch, and this happened while I was switching cars and not the AI driving.

Other than that one issue, it was a nice change to the huge radius away from the switch lever.

I set mine to .06. The shorter the better, but not to 0.00. It does nothing to alter the bug of the switch machine switching when the last car passes over it causing a derailment ( happens some times only...)

So, general consensus here is "go ahead mate". I was just worried that setting a value too low would cause AI to miss some triggers or trackmarks or something of that sort.

I found after much trial an error

"The best setting was between 3 and 5. The speed of the switching is the cause of the variation. To play safe use 5. If your using the little sw1500 you can getaway with 3." Deisan

Don't put them to close to the end of the track with a small trigger radius, unless you've got invisible track after the buffer.
