Miniature Trains - 3 1/2" to 7 1/4"

I just found a couple of shots taken at Brookside GARDEN CENTRE! at Poynton in Cheshire.(This is about 10 miles south of Manchester Airport- where you can visit the aircraft park and runway viewing gallery) This is a normal garden centre but there is a heck of a lot of railwayana piled in there. If you visit have a look around the booking office for the miniature railway. One of the most interesting items I discovered there is an old LNWR bell which was rung to tell plateplayers on the Britannia (AFAIK) bridge when a train was coming. One day it dropped into the water and stayed there for a long time until a diver found it years later.

One day we might get there without it raining!

You tell your dad your NEVER to young;). There are PLENTY of engine out there that require little lathe work etc...

He probably doesn't realise that these models electric/diesel or steam or an INVESTMENT. Not just a toy.:D I'm only 14 and me and my dad took on an AME NSWGR 422 as a father and son project, its costly but being spread out over a 2-3 year period makes it ALOT more managable. And we are paying of a loan and in the process of furnishing our house. So its not totally impossible:)

@ Bearcat245 I'd definately be interested in that kit:eek:
What gauge is it just for curiousity sake...:udrool:

You weren't wrong Mike10...:(My pockets somehow just became very shallow compared to how deep they would need to be for one of those engine:(, Aww well My dad has shown SOME interest. I have also been looking a Polly Model Engineering. Does anyone have an opinion on them???

I will consider putting a wanted ad in AME when me and my dad have decided upon a price we would be willing to pay:eek:

EDIT: Kaleb I have just noticed you live in Tamworth, Might see you oneday as I do plan on visiting at some stage. Just persit with your dad and if need be show him the websites above. EXTREMELY CHEAP considering they cost minimum $3,000 for a small Trojan from Ride On Railways.

Tom
$3,000! That's a lot of money to pay!

Its comes down to how much your willing to pay for a hobby, trainz is mine - for example today spent $710 on 2 new LCD monitors.

This little loco tends to coast rather too well when you close the throttle, so some creative braking is sometimes required ;)

Mike.

Quite simple...

Wire a press to make switch, 30A fuse and 2 0.1 ohm resistors (must be at least 50w or above rating) across the motor terminals. shut the power off and press the button... Dynamic braking!

regards

Harry

It seems that even a Polly Model Engineering kit for an 0-4-0 is still out of reach. :'( The first payment is still over $1000

Depending on how old you are Kaleb, maybe you could get a job:eek:
I know, a bit hypocritical considering I don't have a job but still....

If I got one it'd be so I could get a Polly loco:D

Love the pics of the big engines:D

Some pics below from Orange Society of Model Engineer

Today we got rid of our bits 'n' bobs cupboard and connected the two tracks already in there to our storage yard arrangement so as to avoid the need to stack our Judy Anne cars...
A set of points is test fitted

After much debate we once again begin fitting the points

After a hard days work the two extra sidings for the Judy Anne cars have been completed.

[ The sidings are the two far left ones]

Our overall yard configuration so far :D

Tom

Just wondering Bearcat245 will you be coming to our running day next weekend???
Arrival is about 12pm for a 1pm public running start if you choose to come.

When are the running days.
Maybe if there are good winery's there i can convince my parents to go on holidays that way and stop of there.

Second Saturday's of each month some exceptions apply occasionally....
[One example is when Hot Pot is on the same day as our running day]

We have PLENTY of good wineries here in Orange...:p
