Merging Small Routes

I have sucessfully merged a few small routes on TS2009.
The route is currently 6MB.
I am trying to merge some more small sections anything between 2 and 20 squares.
When I try to merge the small sections they appear ready for me to position them, however the active route is not visible on the map.
I try to move the new section up/down left/right but the active route still does not become visible.
Through trial and area I have noticed that when I go ahead and merge it would seem like it has accepted the merger but in actual fact it has not merged at all OR sometime it merges but its not connected to the active route (there may some blank areas between the merged route).
My question is:
When you merge 2 routes a map appears. scrolling up, down, left and right seems to be limited when the map appears. Sometimes when that map appears the new route appears on the map but the active route is no where to be seen even when you try to navigate. How can I bring the active route back on the map?

Does anyone have any ideas

@ OP: When you are merging you have two sets of 'Move' controls. One set 'embedded' in the view window moves the position of the window relative to the 'fixed' map, the second set located below the view window moves the second map relative to the first. You often need to scroll around extensively to locate the second map. This is complicated by the fact that once the 'fixed' map has left the window there is no way of knowing if the map is still scrolling or if you have hit the 'edge'. On a couple of occasions it has taken me ages and ages to even locate the second map!

@ TS Mac problem: there are known issues with 'Merge' in TS12 and since you are using more or less a derivative thereof, I suspect the same issue may apply...

When I try to merge routes, Trainz crashes. Any help?

As Andy says, this is a known issue with TS12. This would be helpful for the developers to know this is an issue on the Mac version as well.

I would suggest notifying the Helpdesk about this. Zec and his buddy Aron will forward this on to the developers.
