Merged Route

I am trying to merge a small yard route ( 2 boards ) onto my current layout, but when it appears its the wrong way round for me, is there any way of rotating the yard so it will fit ( go ) where I want it ?

Thanks for quick reply Bob, thats a real shame as I'm not going to change lots of my layout just to accomodate 2 new boards. I'm not a computer buff but you would think rotating boards would not be that difficult !!

Use copy and past.

There is one thing you can do which will speed things up a bit. Import the two boards, copy the complete two board layout, rotate to suit your two blank boards where you want to put the yard and then paste.
You will not get track and signals but all the scenery will be there including elevation changes.
You can use the pick tool to select items on the imported boards as you relay the track, then delete the imported boards.
Before you copy, you could put markers at critical track locations which will copy over. This will 'register' your track on the new boards.

Nice Idea Chris but in this case its the complex trackwork I want and I was going to delete most of the buildings as they don't fit in with mine but like I said nice and could be useful for the future, thanks

I've been trying this too

Don't know why but can't find my orginal thread.

I have tried merging some of the incomplete layots that were upload for anyone to finish, Sily me forgot to back it up with everything else I am trying to do and found it was corupted yesterday when I tried to update it, intresting that all the other layots are ok, oh well willl have to start again, the worse part wasd removing the blank boards, but luckly I keeped and its ok is the green acreas without the blank boards in the middle.

It's not really a big programming effort but Auran hasn't done anything about it and it been suggested often in the last 5 years or so that I'm aware of. I don't know of any 3rd party utilities that will do it either. If I can get Auran to update their TRS2006 map format docs - specifically the obs file formats - I might at some point write one.

The tzCad2Trk that I wrote works with trk files and is publically available. It's not exactly what you need to copy over the track work to the new layout though. It makes a trk file from a cad drawing and can translate/rotate it before creating a new trk file or merging it into an existing one. Signals, junction levers and the like are trackside objects and are part of the obs file (as are the mesh parts of fixed tracks) and I don't work with them yet.

I have other scripts I use for myself that can essentially copy and paste track or other splines from one layout to another. If you want to persue that approach drop me an email thru the forum profile.
