Merge Session into Map

Okay, I'll admit it - I messed up. I have been updating CSX Henderson Sub to use a lot of the new assets available for TRS19. It's starting to look really, well, real. The problem is that I inadvertently made too many edits (additions) while in the session instead of in the map. Now I have lots of empty spaces in the map where I should have scenery/content. I have tried merging the map and session layers when editing the session and, yes, I get all the edits in the map, but now I have all the consists in the map and I don't want them there - I want them in the session only. When I delete the consists in the map, they just show up again when I reload it.

Anyone have a suggestion on how to "bulk" move the session assets to the map? I can click on each asset individually and change it from session to map, but that's going to take me several months to move everything (yeah, I made a lot of edits...).

TIA,
Chili

Open the layers and drag the session layer into the route layer.

This will merge the two together and hopefully fix your problem. I recommend backing things up before trying this just in case things go a bit off kilter.

After you do as suggested, go back into the route and change the consists back into the session layer.

Tried that John and it doesn't work the way I wanted it to.

Here's what I came up with.

Edit the session and delete all of the consists (and anything else wanted in the session only).
Go to the layers tab and merge in the route.
Save the edits as ... (route name V2 or whatever)
Clone the old session. In my case it was <kuid:324956:100001>
Edit the session config file and change the map KUID to the new one

All the edits are now in the map file and all the consists (and session setups) are in the new session file.

It's not 100% correct. I noticed that one of the AI drivers was complaining about a missing junction - that should be easy to fix. Just have to find it. Other than that, it looks pretty good.

It's messy and doesn't work perfectly as many of us have found out. The good news is at least you got stuff in a semblance of order and can continue from there. It would be nice, and this has been requested more than just a few times, if there was some kind of indicator showing us which layer we're working on. If the session layer, for example indicator, located at the top of the screen somewhere, is highlighted green to indicate it's active, you would have seen that and known you were on that layer, but sadly this isn't the case and for now we have to constantly be aware of where we are.
