Merge a TS12 route with a TS10 one?

Hi all,

The other day, I borrowed a copy of TS12 from a friend, just to try a theory out.

I installed it and went straight to work deleting everything from just north of York on the ECML all the way down to Kings Cross.

The purpose was to see if I could merge the new section up to Newcastle to my existing route.

Anyway, after a couple of days clicking away, I ended up with just the section I wanted. I copied it out from TS12 as a CMP file and then put it into my CMP for TS10. Now needless to say it didn't work, is there anybody that can maybe explain WHY it didn't work?

I was under the assumption that when you create a CMP, all dependancies that are needed are packed. (If they are installed)

I have a feeling that this is probably against the T&C's of the game, but humour me - can it be done?

Ta.

Where to start?

Trainz end user license is not transferable, so I think you just 'fessed up to a crime :)

Saving a route to cdp (which I assume is what you mean by cmp) saves the route only. No other assets are - or ever were - saved with it. You would need to pack dependencies separately.

If you copied the route out of TS2012 check the trainzbuild tag - probably 3.5 which won't load into TS2010...

Andy :)

Thanks. Yes I did mean CDP.

Ha ha, yes I suppose I did just confess lol.

My friend purchased TS12 after seeing my TS10, but seeing as I have only had my version since February, I wasn't prepared to shell out again just to prove myself right or wrong.

I'm happy with my TS10 though, as I have done lots of work on it to get it just right for me.

Now IF there was a way to transfer my schedules and driver setups etc.... (DEVELOPERS ARE YOU LISTENING?) :D

Just to clarify for those more serious about my "Crime", TS12 has now been removed from my system.

Just a note to others thinking the same, it did bugger my install up with trying to transfer content etc but as I have a daily backup of my game folder it didn't matter to me. :)
