Maximum height on a tile and raising mid build!

I have spent the last month slowly installing the main tracks on the 'Alamosa to Silverton' Route, 200+ miles finished. All was fine until I reached the Cumbres Pass. The maximum height on the board is 3000 meters, Cumbres Pass is 3200 meters in height. Which means I must lower half the State of Colorado to include this pass. I have searched for a week through the forums list for setting height in the beginning or increasing it but have not found any answers.
Can any one give me some hints on correcting this problem? Having four miles of tunnels just doesn't sit well with me!

Thank you
Mick

My sympathies but there is no way to get around the upper height limit of 3000m. That limit has existed, as far as I know, since forever.

I just tried adjusting the height in S20 (Surveyor 2.0) beyond 3000m by various means and can confirm that the limit still exists.

A possible workaround would be to make the maximum height of the pass 3000m (or less if you want the surrounding peaks to look higher) and then scale back the surrounding terrain by a proportionate amount to maintain the relative scale.

For example: According to Google Earth the maximum elevation of the track through the pass is about 3060m (approx 270m east of the east fork of the WYE or Triangle). The immediate surrounding terrain seems to max out at about 3100m (give or take).

So make 3000m your terrain height for the highest of the surrounding terrain, that is a minor (0.03%) height reduction. Reduce the maximum height of the track from 3060m by the same percentage to 2960m and as you get further away from the pass keep gradually reducing this percentage reduction until it reaches 0%. I can almost guarantee that no-one will notice (except for those people who count every single blade of grass and, unfortunately, there is just no hope for those people).

Not a perfect or an ideal solution but the best I could come up with.

You can try TransDem. You may have to export your terrain to an older trainz build and then bring it back.

That would be awesome if that still worked. Sadly, when N3V changed things in TANE SP1 or SP2, we can no longer do that.

Is the elevation change between the lowest point on the route and the highest point really more than 3000 meters or to be more precise 9842.51969 feet? For example, Delores is the lowest point on the RGS at about 6700 feet so I started building there and set the world origin to that elevation but the baseboard is at its original height but I measure off the world origin as I build towards Durango and Ridgeway. Lizard head pass is 10,200 feet and the surrounding mountains are less than 12,000 feet except for the odd 14,000 foot peak in the distance. Remember you can also go down 3000 meters too giving a total range of 6000 meters or 19685.0394 feet.

Thank you for all the suggestions.
I have picked up some good tips and hints here as to my further studies of mountain building!
Time to get out the old road grader and start pushing these mountains around!
I need to learn how to raise and lower blocks of terrain and setting the base height to start with!.

Again, Thank You
Mick
